Hello! We are Jack (24M) and Millie (23F), a couple from the UK eager to enrich our travelling experience by immersing ourselves in new experiences and cultures beyond the backpacker hostels. We’re enthusiastic, adaptable, and hands-on individuals who are keen to bring our working skills and friendly manner to help you out in your home

Together, we have proven ourselves as reliable workers in 4 cities across 3 countries, including your very own Australia.

Jack has worked in local government (Children’s Services) and academic administration after a solid foundation in hospitality. Before bartending in Queenstown, New Zealand during his last backpacking adventure, Jack worked at McDonald’s for 5 years while balancing study at school and university.

Across a wide range of workplaces, Jack can reliably apply his resilient work ethic and interpersonal skills to become a solid team member in any scenario.

Meanwhile, Millie has proven herself as a natural leader, taking on supervisor roles in bars and restaurants in both the UK and in Brisbane, alongside supervising an events team at a British marketing agency. Moreover, Millie has a fantastic manner, helping tailor a memorable, personalised experience for the individual while tending to all guests’ needs and keeping a cool head under pressure.

Millie has also demonstrated her care and patience while teaching ballet to younger students alongside babysitting in her spare time. Together, these experiences highlight Millie’s natural ability to draw on her practical and supportive qualities to adapt well to a variety of tasks, clients, and colleagues in all workplaces.

Outside of work, we’re both keen to meet new people and experience different lifestyles and setups, which is why we’re excited about Workaway. Alongside travelling, we love spending time outside (especially spent in nature), creative projects (Jack plays piano and guitar while Millie loves getting stuck into arts and crafts), keeping active, and keeping social. Equally, we’re comfortable with busying ourselves with quiet tasks and independent work.

We are keen learners and persevere well, so you can trust us to rise to any challenge with a positive attitude. After all, we aim to be excellent, helpful guests in your home.

We are both RSA-certified, have valid subclass 417 Working Holiday visas, and are flexible with hours, start dates, and tasks. We can also readily provide references at your convenience.

Operational support in local government and academic administration: liaison with police, health, education, and families; pastoral support, data management, minute-taking, recordkeeping. Bartending, waiting, fast food customer service, housekeeping, educational leadership, events promotion and management, fundraising. Holds a First-class History degree from the University of Manchester.

Millie:
Supervisor role in marketing (social media, events promotion and management, creative projects, stakeholder management). Supervisor roles in bartending and restaurant work; babysitting, teaching assistance (ballet), caregiving, customer service, housekeeping, full drivers licence.
