Welcome to my profile!

I hope you're doing fine!
I am Luisa, 28 years old, and curious for my new meaningful little workaway adventure.

I completed my Master's degree in Human Rights in Italy one year ago after spending a year volunteering with refugees and doing research in Lebanon, gardening in Spain and working with a youth organisation in The Gambia to carry out two environmental protection projects. This year, I have been working in the catering sector, selling fries and preparing sandwiches and being promoted a service manager, learning how to manage daily operations, overseeing a team and coping with stress. Yet, the time has come to move on and go back to what I am truly passionate about: social work and justice, human interactions and the stories each human has to tell, arts, music, spirituality, nature.

Thanks to workaway and other work experiences, I am familiar with gardening, house and garden maintenance, cooking, renovating, painting, cleaning, working with children and youths, journalistic as well as NGO work, and others.

Having changed place many times, I know how to adapt to new places and situations. I love cultural exchange and am able to speak English, French and Italian and some Spanish (although especially if you are a native speaker, you will recognize my maaaany many mistakes and the latter is rather an Italian-Spanish mixture ;-)).

I am very curious and open-minded about life, love to listen other people's stories and giving a helping hand wherever needed. I spend a lot of time in nature - having long walks/hikes, biking, swimming- ,I like to write, read and meditate a lot, draw and sketch, cook, am learning to play the electric guitar, do analogue photography and enjoy spending time with other people over good food, laughter and good conversations.
Unfortunately, I don't have any special magic skills, but the willingness to do everything in my power. :)

I guess this space here is to describe yourself as best you can, but I would prefer to meet you in real life (or for the moment via video call) and tell you about me personally. And especially get to know you.

I am open-minded for different tasks and I am a fast learner. Being a curious person, I would love to do some complete new work.
This year I did an internship at an environmental organisation in Italy which has been a very pleasant experience for me.
After finishing school, I did different jobs and internships. For example, I worked as a writer for our local newspaper and had therefore the chance to visit different events, communicate and interview people there and create articles about these experiences. I also volunteered in a sheltered workshop and in a refugee`s camp. I did an internship in the Bundestag, the German parliament in Berlin, worked in different schools and had so far different jobs to earn money: as a waitress, a worker in an ecological food store, and during summer I used to work as a city gardener in Basel, my home town.
Through my different work experiences, I learned how to adapt to new situations and how to become part of a team with complete new people. And I always like the beginning of a new experience because each job and each team is different and I always feel how much I can learn from different people. In return, I try to give my best to work persistent and try to include the skills I have. I am a very interested and also creative person that loves to be a lot outside in nature and work there.

Paola is a wonderful, unique young woman and probably one of the most generous persons I know -like all her family. She is very lovely and from the beginning, I felt so comfortable living with her and her mother Anna. The two are so warm-hearted and are always willing to help you. If I had a question or a little problem, they were immediately… read more willing to help and always tried to give me the feeling to feel at home.

Don`t be afraid of body contact as Paola loves to hug :D but that is so cute and you feel so connected and closer to people if they show you this warm attitude towards you -in general the South Italians are very lovely with all their kisses and cute names and their open and lively manner.

Paolas German is very good but she is still afraid to make mistakes so in my opinion the most important thing is to show her through relaxed talking that she doesn`t have to feel fear. She is a very ambitious woman and very intelligent. I was always impressed of her knowledge of music, politics, the German language and so on. When we were having one of our walks, we often talked German together and in the evenings I sometimes read aloud an article of "Deutsche Welle" to just give her the possibility to listen to German. I was always reading one sentence and then trying to repeat this sentence in an easier German -if it was written in a too complicated way- or explained her new words. We also learned vocabulary together which helped us both because she learned new German words and I learned new Italian words.

Except of all the talks while sitting with a coffee or a tea and all the time of laughter we shared, we were doing long walks in the living areas nearby or to the old center of the city (the Sassi) which took us perhaps 35 minutes to get there. She was always so happy to go outside and move. She showed me most of the time so much trust and always tried to make my time as best as possible. We had so much wonderful moments together: all the walks, the ice cream in the city, trips to Bari (two times) and into the Murca, we were in the cinema and in a concert, made trips with her incredible wonderful and so lovely godfather Franco, ate each day a big plate of Pasta, delicious "dolci" and so on.
If you are open-minded, you will enjoy a lot your stay Paolas place!!
Of course, sometimes it can be hard to live so close together, especially if your opinions and views of certain topics are different, but you can be honest with Paola and you will also have time for yourself.

This place will especially fit to you if you are also interested in Operas and classic music. :)

I really consider this hosting place as a very intensive and close experience and a lovely place to spend time in the warm-hearted South of Italy!
