  • Description

Big part of an alternative life is farming, organic farming, permaculture and so on. I would love to experience and learn about communities and different organisations in different places....I already have experienced community and farming work in very different commercial and non commercial, organic and conventional settings and would like to learn more.

I am not exclusively looking for farm work. I worked as a music teacher both in germany and in social projects abroad and i would like to continue doing that, because i find the work as a teacher extremely rewarding. especially interested i am in work with refuggees and kids from lower economic backgrounds to give the joy of music and playing music to the ones that might not have an access to it otherwise.

This interest i want to combine with a long bike trip. My long term goal is to reach Namibia and South Africa and possibly beyond, supporting projects on the way and learning from them. It is my first time doing a bike trip, after travelling by hitchhiking and public transport. Spent a lot of time in Latin america and speak spanish, even though my tongue might be very rusty and is usually not agile enough to roll the "r" properly. My english is very good too after doing working holidays in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

I have done a fair amount of travelling and have worked/volunteered in most countries as i think one gets to know a country better when one works in it. I am looking forward to slowly travel the globe with my bike, stopping often to support projects on the way and by that hope to help to create a more equitative and sustainable society as well as to inspire people to take to the bike for travelling/transport as it seems the most sustainable way to me.

  • More details about your skills

I did lots of different jobs in my days: teaching music, teaching language, translation jobs, farm work, organic farm work, painting, dishwashing, reception work in a hostel, bartending, cocktail mixing, once in australia i worked with the carnys, setting up rides and running the balloon bust on show days. All these experiences have made me adaptable to new situations. Even though i might not excell in all of the above mentioned jobs i managed to do these jobs. Just dont let me drive backwards in an overloaded truck and i will tell you how i crashed one on a farm in new zealand. :)

My best skills are probable the ones least useable but still i mention them: playing and jamming on various instruments to create pleasures of noise. Dismantling thoughts and analysing discourses in endless discussions, though that can create a bit of frustration in all participating parties in the discussion(especially for myself), so i tend to use that skill in moderation these days.
