  • Description

Hello! I’m Max, a university student from New York City currently studying The Environment and Sustainability. I recently completed a 6 week field program in Chilean Patagonia studying natural ecosystems and human/nature interactions and have since been traveling around South America and Europe exploring some of the beautiful and historical places this incredible world has to offer. I’m passionate about nature, travel, and connecting with people from different backgrounds. What truly motivates me is being outdoors — whether it’s hiking through forests, swimming in rivers, or working on a farm surrounded by mountains. I love learning new skills and hearing people’s stories.
Traveling makes me feel alive because it reminds me how big, beautiful, and diverse the world is. I’m happiest when I'm outside, working with my hands, or sitting around a fire and stargazing after a long day. I’m always looking to contribute positively, especially through projects that benefit different communities and natural ecosystems. Looking forward to learning from the places I visit and the people I meet along the way!

  • More details about your skills

I’m currently in the Program in The Environment at The University of Michigan, with a focus on conservation and food sovereignty. My academic background has given me a strong foundation in ecology, environmental management, and sustainable systems.
While on my program in Chile, I had the opportunity to spend time working on a permaculture farm, where I developed a fascination with sustainable farming practices and regenerative agriculture. During my stay, I gained hands-on experience with organic farming, composting, native plant care, and small-scale building projects. It was an incredibly rewarding experience that deepened my passion for eco-living and sparked a strong interest in learning more about how land, people, and nature can thrive together sustainably.
I’m also conversational in Spanish — while I’m not fluent, I’m comfortable holding conversations, asking questions, and learning through experience, especially in a work setting.
I’m a hard worker, team player, and quick learner who loves collaborating with others and contributing to a positive group dynamic. Whether it’s helping out in the garden, taking care of animals, or working on a creative project, I’m always ready to lend a hand and learn something new.

  • What else ...

Outside of work and school, I’m super passionate about outdoor adventure and staying active. I love backpacking, hiking, swimming in wild places, and am looking to complete my first triathlon — which was both exhausting and awesome! I’m always up for a challenge and enjoy pushing myself in nature.
When I’m not outside, I’m a big fan of board games — Catan is one of my favorites, and I’m always down for a friendly (or competitive) game. I also love playing pickup sports like soccer, basketball, and ultimate frisbee, and I’m currently learning how to play guitar.
I’m happiest when I’m outdoors, working with my hands, learning new skills, and connecting with people over good food, stories, or a board game night.
