Hallo,
My name is Ralph. I am from Dresden in Germany, am 51 years old, assess oneself as a reliable, conscientious person and attach importance to honesty. I learned mechanical engineering and am currently working in the packaging industry. In my spare time I like to be outdoors, like cycling and jogging and hiking. In 2019/2020, I used my six-month sabbatical on La Palma to get some distance from the office routine, to get to know nice people and also to improve my Spanish knowledge. I am currently working in Germany again.

ich heiße Ralph, komme aus Dresden (D), bin 51 Jahre alt, schätze mich als zuverlässigen, gewissenhaften Menschen ein und lege Wert auf Ehrlichkeit. Ich habe Maschinenbau gelernt und bin derzeit in der Verpackungsbranche tätig. In meiner Freizeit bin ich am liebsten draußen unterwegs, fahre gern Rad und gehe Joggen oder Wandern. 2019/2020 habe ich mein halbjähriges Sabbatical genutzt, um etwas Abstand vom Büroalltag zu bekommen, nette Leute kennenzulernen und meine Spanischkenntnisse zu verbessern. Derzeit arbeite ich wieder in Deutschland.

Yo pude pasar tres meses con Rosa y Jens y estoy muy contento de haber sido invitado por ambos! La finca tiene un hermoso jardín con casi todo lo que prospera en la isla, incluido las malas hierbas.:-) La finca se convierte en una finca de café. Así que pude aprender mucho sobre el (costoso) cultivo de café y ver cómo crecen los árboles. La finca… read more está situada en una region muy tranquila encima de Santa Cruz. Sin embargo, pude hacer bien todos mis cosas y excursiónes sin un coche de alquiler. Para aquellos que les gusta caminar, la diferencia de altitud de aprox. 350 m hasta Santa Cruz se puede hacer en aproximadamente media hora. Además, un autobús ("la guagua") sale casi cada hora en frente de la puerta de la casa.

Si tienes la oportunidad de trabajar y vivir aquí, tómala. Aquí encontrarás un alojamiento de cinco estrellas con una pensión completa, lo que en mi opinión es difícil de encontrar una segunda vez en La Palma. Debería ser evidente que esto exige su equivalente. Sin embargo, todo el trabajo que hay que hacer, ya sea quitar hierba, cortar plantas, trabajos de mantenimiento o renovación, etc., puede ser realizado fácilmente por todos. No hace daño mirar a la izquierda y a la derecha para ver lo que hay que hacer tambien. Por cierto, también el pequeño zoológico (tres perros y tres gatos) está siempre agradecido por una caricia.

No era sólo un trabajador aquí, era parte de la familia. Rosa y Jens a menudo me llevaban a la playa o me traían cosas que necesitaba. Sin embargo, ambos tienen sus propias vidas y privacidad, que debes respetar. Lo culinario ya ha sido elogiado con buena razón en algunos comentarios. Los dos cocinan muy rico y sobre todo con mucho gusto! Incluso como no vegetariano no sufrirás hambre aquí. El tiempo después me pareció como una cura de abstinencia. :-)

Mi español todavía necesita mucha práctica. Rosa (Jens también, por supuesto :-)) siempre ha sido una Palmera muy paciente que habla despacio y con claridad y que puede enseñarte mucho si quieres aprender español. Pero vale la pena estudiar un poco el idioma español de antemano.

¡Gracias a ambos por el tiempo encantador! Espero tener la oportunidad de ser tu invitado nuevamente. Tal vez vuestra propiedad de tierras haya crecido para entonces y estará verde y floreciendo allí, sobre todo naturalmente el café.:-) ¡Mantengo los dedos cruzados por los dos!

I could spend three months with Rosa and Jens and I am very happy to have been a guest at their house! The finca has a wonderful garden with almost everything that grows on the island, including weeds :-) It is currently developing into a coffee finca. So I could learn a lot about the (complex) cultivation of coffee and watch how the little trees grow. The finca is located very quietly above Santa Cruz. Nevertheless, I could do all my trips well without a rental car. For those who like to walk / hike, the 350 m difference in altitude to Santa Cruz can be covered in about half an hour. In addition, there is a bus (here: la guagua) leaving almost every hour in front of the door.

If you get the chance to work and live here, take it. Here you will find a five star accommodation with full board, which I think you will hardly find a second time on La Palma. That this demands its equivalent should be self-evident. Nevertheless, all upcoming work, whether weeding, cutting plants, maintenance or renovation work, etc., can be done well by everyone. It does no harm to look left and right to see what else needs to be done. By the way, also the small zoo (three dogs and three cats) is always grateful for a stroke.

I was not only a worker here, but rather part of the family. Rosa and Jens often took me along to the beach or got me things I needed. Nevertheless, they have their own lives and privacy, which you should respect. The culinary aspect has already been justifiably praised in some comments. The two cook fantastic and they love to cook! You will not suffer hunger here even as a non-vegetarian. The time after that seemed to me like a withdrawal treatment. :-)

My Spanish still needs a lot of practice. Rosa (Jens too of course :-)) was a very patient Palmera all the time who speaks slowly and clearly and can certainly teach you a lot if you want to learn Spanish. But it is worth having a little previous knowledge.

Thank you so much for the great time! I hope I will have the opportunity to be your guest once again! Maybe your lands will have grown already then and there will be green and blooming, especially the coffee of course. :-) I keep my fingers crossed for both of you!
