Hello!

My name is Sam , I’m 25 and have been travelling and working seasonally for a few years now , and what an amazing experience it has been. I have been incredibly fortunate and instead met many wonderful people in beautiful locations and began living in a way I don’t think I can stop doing , and don’t want to.

I work as a hiking guide in between my travels, something I fell into later in life and it seems is my real calling and am blessed to do. I’d like to think I do this well and have and will help lots of people have life changing experiences in nature.

I’d like to learn new skills from Hosts and listen to there stories and interpretations of life. I would like to learn practical skills to one day help me to build my own off grid lifestyle and community.

I grew up around animals and having a home vegetable patch so am able to bring some basic skills with me - I want to learn how to make this sustainable and allow me and those around me to become self sufficient too.

As I am currently taking some time away from my work as a guide - I’m looking to build some small routine (something it’s hard to come by as a guide)
Early starts , morning stretching and being intentional about the day are a priority at this time.

I trained as a mechanical engineer after leaving school , I went in this direction as I always enjoyed hands on projects at home, building chicken coops , sledges , fixing my bike etc. although I went into other work later I still enjoy this kind of thing.

I also grew up spending a lot of time working in the family allotment and on my grandparents farm so I’d like to think my skills in this area are pretty good! It’s something I enjoy doing which when it comes to skills is half the battle in learning it .

Currently I work as a guide , this involves lots of cooking on fires , 4W driving and keeping people safe in what can be dangerous environments. I also have to problem solve and think on my feet when things go wrong. A

What else ...

I love long distance multi day hiking trips , partly the walking but mainly I like being out in nature for an extended period of time. I return feeling grounded and rested despite the mileage.
