  • Description

Although we are a team, as two individuals our motivations and passions are unique to each of us.

Sara is a highly motivated person - as dedicated to her physical and mental well being as she is to being a reliable team player. As a PT and Yoga teacher her practice provides her with a sense of stability and space. This carries over to almost every other area of her life. She loves a to-do list and managing multiple tasks at once, whether that's pushing a wheelbarrow of chicken shit, looking after animals and children, writing a blog, plastering a wall or mixing concrete or coordinating an event or project. Her motivation is simply in the act itself, and particularly where other people benefit.

Akhil is motivated by excellence, and inspired by beauty and nature. Also a Yoga teacher as well as an artist, he is an incredibly talented individual who can be trusted to deliver on any number of tasks to a high standard. In one workaway recently he became a trusted member of the team, trusted enough to scale the roof in his flip flops and support their work. Similarly he is a compassionate person and a fantastic team player and leader who's tenacity and initiative shines through whether the task is challenging, arduous, simple or time consuming - or requires braun or brain. He will selflessly and enduringly toil to support and help others.

  • More details about your skills

Akhil is one of those people that can turn his hand to a multitude of tasks, whether that is technical such as computer/website coding or fixing a faulty solar panel, or physical such as lifting, climbing or knocking down a wall. Plus he'll complete it to the highest of standards. He is a highly creative and precise person. He designs and creates jewellery from natural materials such as semi precious stones, coconut shell and wood. His skills cross over into problem solving, whether that involves organising people, creating innovative storage solutions or fitting objects into a truck for example. Akhil works with companies as events crew helping to set up stages, stewarding traffic or installing irrigation systems for vertical living walls amongst a variety of tasks. He is also an assistant forest school teacher. Up until the age of 25 years old he lived in India and his family own a farm there where he would regularly help out so he's very comfortable working with nature and in the outdoors. He has a degree in Fashion Communications and is a highly trained Yoga teacher.

Sara started her career working in a variety of administrative positions while looking for her career break in journalism. She completed a degree in Politics and Philosophy and a Masters in History and spent 4 years working in journalism before changing career to community work. Over the following three years she set up numerous intergenerational events and projects including street parties, carnivals and community gardening projects, raising funds, overseeing marketing and managing volunteers. Alongside her varied career she also pursued her interests in health and fitness training up to 5 nights a week in Shaolin Kung Fu, becoming a senior instructor. She then trained as a Personal Trainer and then later as a Yoga teacher, attending the ashram in India where she met Akhil. More recently she has specialised in exercise for pre and post-natal clients. She is a keen student who envisions a life of perpetual learning and sharing of knowledge whether that is about physical and mental well being, events organising, writing, marketing or gardening.
