  • Description

Hi, I'm Sem. I am 24 years old and a recent graduate. I like to live my life through experiences. I’ve found that being present in the moment gives you the opportunity to really connect with other people and the world around you.

I finished my bachelor’s degree in Idea and Innovation management. This study required me to a lot of intellectual labour, but I really missed a practical approach. That's the reason I decided to do a second study to become a carpenter. I combined these studies with working as a gardener. These two practical professions combined kept me busy this past year and made me develop a lot of new skills. I’m quite good at using my hands and love creating things. Right now I feel ready for a new challenge! Exploring the world using the skills I've developed and broaden my horizon.

Hiking and camping are my most favourite ways to explore a country. I feel connected to nature which brings me peace and happiness. Over the past few years I’ve been on four different long distance hikes through Europe. One in Germany and three in the French mountains (Pyrenees and Alpes). Hiking through the mountains with my big backpack filled with my tent and sleeping bag has taught me a great deal about myself and the world around me. It taught me to take care of myself, trust my instincts and that in the end you’ll always get where you want/need to go. There are few things in life that make we happier than being on top of a mountain!

I have always been into sports, this includes running, golfing, climbing, hiking, cycling, skiing and surfing. As u can probably tell by this list of sports, I love being outside!

I am a social person who loves being busy. In the past I have done a few surfing vacations in hostels where I loved meeting all kinds of new and interesting people. I am easy going and spontaneous and during my travels I love meeting new people. In my experience the stories and experiences of other people can enrich your holiday and impact your personal views.

On my travels I would love to learn more about gardening, DIY-projects, life on a farm, working with animals, off grid living and van life.

I am quick to pick up new things and feel like the world has a lot to offer!

  • More details about your skills

    • DIY projects. Last year I finished my degree in carpentry. In this last year I have built a closet, a table, a door and a stable.
    • Gardening. For the past 4 years during my studies I’ve worked as a gardener in a small company in Belgium.
    • Bachelor’s degree idea & innovation management. A few of the skills I’ve learned in this three year course are:
    o Creative and innovative thinking
    o Critical analysis of concepts
o Leadership skills (we had a lot of group projects. This required someone to take the lead.)
o Guide/coach brainstorms or difficult conversations in companies
    • Basic computer skills. In my studies we had to write a lot of reports and give presentations. Word, PowerPoint, outlook, AutoCAD, … were some of the programs we had to use.
    • Animal care. I’ve had dogs, cats, horses, fish, rabbits, hamsters and chickens.
    • Basic cooking skills.
    • Self-sufficient. During my long distance hikes I’ve learned how to take care of myself without much luxury.
    • Social skills. I worked a lot of group projects during my studies. I am a real team player but I don’t mind working alone.
I am hard working, creative, social, sportive, analytical, practical, motivated, enterprising and relaxed.
