  • Description

Hola, thank you to everyone who saw this introduction~

    WHO AM I
My name is Tang Shi, which is a very beautiful word in Chinese. Poetry of the Tang Dynasty (a prosperous period of economic and cultural development in Chinese history).

I am 31 years old this year and have been working in the tourism industry for 9 years since graduation, due to four years backpacking experience in university, I made my hobby become my career. My positions ranged from Hotel Supplier, Route Designer, to Marketing Director. At the same time, I have a passion for outdoor sports, especially hiking, so I often led people to climbing mountains, hiking, organized events, and establish a club of outdoor enthusiast.

My colleagues often say that I am a capable and responsible partner, while my friends consider me brave, kind, and energetic. In my own mind, I am a confused person.

WHY I NEED A GAP YEAR
Since the age of 30, I have been unable to stop thinking about two questions: Have I found what I truly love? How do I hope to spend my life? These questions have never appeared in my education since childhood, and I never get answers in my daily busy work too. Even though I am fortunate enough to have chosen my job out of passion, and my career performance has earned me a lot of respect and a sense of achievement, but my confusion still exists and cannot be ignored.
After serious consideration, I resigned this year and decide start my gap year.

Exploring the customs and traditions of different countries and regions, meeting friends from diverse backgrounds, to communicate and learn from each other, and tasting delicious food made with different ingredients and cooking methods, have always been my passion.
When I was in college, I volunteered 1 month with an NGO for the Nepal Women's Poverty Alleviation Project and successfully helped connect local handicraft buyers from China market. At the same time, I have also been a couchsurfer and met great hosts in several asian countries. We spent a wonderful time together, I can recall that once I became a special invited guest in the English class because the host was a teacher; There was another time when my Indonesian host came to China for a trip after 10 years, we met in Shanghai…too much wonderful memories!

Due to different cultures and environments, different people have different attitudes and wisdom towards life, which is exactly what I need. Therefore, I have chosen Latin America, which is the farthest away from my home land. I have been longing for Latin America: The Mayan civilization, Tango and Latin Dance, Day of the Dead and Carnival, the natural scenery of Patagonia, and the football atmosphere…so many elements attract me. I am excited that my dream will come true soon.

    WHAT’S MY PLAN
As the first stop in Latin America, I will stay in Mexico for a few months to learn Spanish and explore suitable travel methods, and then I will travel to south, until Argentina or Antarctic maybe, depending on the situation. (I hope to continue learning Spanish during the whole journey)

    NEW WORKAWAYER SAY HI~
This is my first time trying to open up another possibility of lifestyle as a Workawayer (so please forgive me for not having any experience or feedback on my homepage yet)
Like most people, I chose to become a workawayer because it is not only a way for me to immerse myself in local life and make local friends, but also to save on travel expenses and make the journey more sustainable.
If you are a host, I have fully understood the meaning of exchanging labor for accommodation&food, so I will strive to become a good helper and partner after clear communication (I am also love to learn new skills), and a friend too!
If you are a workwayer too, who interested in me, please feel free to contact me(I will familiarize myself with the website functions as soon as possible).

BTW, if anyone are interested in Chinese culture/scenery/cuisine, Tea ceremony, Hiking, etc., I would also be very very glad to sharing~

I'm looking forward to meeting you~Gracias
