  • Description

    Hello workaway community! :)

I am Vanessa. A curious, sportive and open-minded person.
I think through encountering different people, beings, surroudings, situations etc. one can learn step by step a bit more about this world and about life. By getting in touch with others one learns not only about new ways of life but also a lot about oneself!

Last summer I finished my bachelor degrees in a teacher programm with the subjects sports and informatics. Before University I worked in gastronomy, patisserie and as a fitness instructor. During my studies I was also swimming instructor for kids and worked as childcare worker & leisure supervisior for an local kids and youth association.

In my free time I love to dance (lindy hop, contemporary, impro, house, ...), to go climbing, hiking, swimming, yoga, being in nature, but also to immerse in conversations, try out new things, reading and what ever life brings spontaneously.

Now I wanna experience new cultures and get in contact with people from other countries and contexts! This is why I subscribed on the workaway platform. I am excited about who I will get to know, what I will learn, which emotions I will feel and which thoughts and experiences will be created with new people (you?) - really looking forward to meet you! :)

    Cheers and warm regards,
    Vanessa

Working/interacting with kids. It makes me happy to interact with kids, to support them so that they can unfold themselves, to inspire them and give them confidence. Creative, sportive, problem solving, ... activities or just listening to them - it'll be a pleasure and as I see it, i'll learn from them too. I was swim instructor, child/youth care worker and leisure supervisor and have a little bit experience in teaching at school.

Working/interacting with people. As I am an communicative and positive person I like to get in touch with people. I try to be unbiased with every new encounter. I often see communication as key. I like transparency and authentic conversations. I am a caring person who tries to approach people empathetically.

Structured working. I like to organize and to keep an overview of things. My accuracy is often an advantage here.

Working on the country side. As I grew up on the countryside I have basic experience in gardening. My physical strength and stamina could also be an advantage.

Cooking and serving guests. I did my A-level exam at an tourism school this means I am also educated in tourism (cooking, service and reception) - I have experience in the kitchen and in service. Through working in this field my general hands-on mentality got influenced positively.

Finding solutions (in a creative/new way?!). I am into solving problems and finding a (new) way to go. After all, there must be a solution for every challenge - let's try to find out!

Creative work. When there is enough time I love to get kissed by muse and create something creative. I think that won't work as well under pressure.

  • What else ...

I love dancing. It's a great way for me to express myself, to be free and to connect to other people. If you have a favorite dance or if you do community dances or if dance traditions are anchored in your culture - I would be very happy if you let me participate!

I would like to get to grips with sociology and philosophy. I have the feeling that this knowledge is very useful for human (co)existence. It could also provide many answers to current challenges facing society. Let's ask questions together!

I have a holistic view of people. Body, mind and soul are united and reciprocal. The emotional part has been somewhat neglected in my life so far and that's why I want to explore and experience it even better as soon as possible. I always ask myself how we can take even better care of ourselves and our fellow human beings and how we can experience more and more connectedness.

My specific goals for the near future are to work on sociocracy and community building.
I am also trying to offer mindfulness and spirituality more and more space in my life.

Nature is the best place for me to breathe and slow down. Shall we explore an enchanted place?

I look forward to exchanging ideas and learning new things together :)
