Description

From 2000 - 2013 I worked for Royal Mail in England as a postman. During those years I saw many changes to working practices ,which resulted in a serious decline in working conditions .Although I was unhappy ,I continued to work there in fear of being unable to find another job .
In 2013 I was made redundant and realised it was an opportunity for me to try to find a happier and more fulfilling path in life .This led me to teaching English as a volunteer in Chiang Rai for 2 months in January 2014, after which I took the opportunity to travel ,first to Vietnam ,then to Laos and then back to Thailand again.
After I spent some more time in Thailand, I returned to Vietnam, where, through the Workaway website, I spent a month teaching English to the staff at a Spa hotel close to the town of Hoi An.
In August 2014 I returned to England after 7 months away. Having stayed in England until late May 2015, I have returned to South East Asia again and have spent one month volunteering at a school near Korat in Thailand, through the Workaway website. From there, I again returned to Vietnam and have again been teaching at the Spa hotel near Hoi An. I will be travelling to Malaysia shortly, then Sri Lanka and perhaps Japan, I will also return to Thailand before I go back to England . Ultimately I would like to find a long term project or job to get involved with.
I am 48 years old now and I see this as a very positive thing having experienced many different things in life and travelled to many places. I like to stay healthy and I cycle a lot whenever I get the chance .
I would say that I am an honest and trustworthy person .I am patient ,understanding and good natured .
If I can help make someone's life better and maybe put a smile on their face ,then perhaps I've found that path.

I spent many years when I was younger working in the building trade ,this included painting and gardening in particular .At home in England ,I often enjoy gardening as a hobby .
I spent 10 years working for an airline catering firm, starting as a cleaner and working up to a supervisor .This was an excellent experience in working with other people and helped me to be adaptable ,especially while working in different departments .
I have travelled a lot in my lifetime , and when I was 24 I went to Israel to work as a volunteer on a Kibbutz ,where I spent 8 months living with other volunteers ,all of us working in a variety of different jobs .
I have always been interested in aviation ,and in 2007 I took my first flying lesson followed by 5 more .I found this to be very interesting and enjoyable and although I excelled in these lessons ,I could not continue due to the enormous costs involved .
Having passed 2 TEFL courses last year ,and started teaching English this year ,I am keen to continue on this path ,and I believe I have found something in which I have a lot to offer.
I enjoy teaching very much and feel it is a very worthwhile and rewarding career .
In 2015/16 I travelled to Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, South Korea and Japan. I spent a relatively short time in each country, now I would love to stay longer in just one or 2 of these countries and really get to know the place and it's people and culture.

I spent considerable time in South East Asia and taught English in Thailand and Vietnam.
My hobbies include photography, cycling, fishing and gardening.
