Travelling
My next destination:
Italy - from Jul 2025 until Aug 2025 View allDescription
I love to travel in order to meet new people, and learn more about their culture and history. I find it so interesting and very refreshing, compared to only knowing people with the exact same culture and upbringing as you.
I also love learning languages. This is a big part of why I wish to do a Workaway program, as I find full immersion to be the most effective, and also most fun way to learn. So far I speak English, Spanish, and some Thai. I'm looking forward to be able to learn Italian!
I try my best to be a very outgoing and welcoming person, and am always working to get better at this so that I can get to know as many interesting people as possible. I always try to look after the people that I care about and make them smile. I am willing to work hard to seize any opportunities and make the most of them, and I am always open to trying things outside of my comfort zone.
In my free time I love to do Muay Thai. I also love cooking, and especially trying out new recipes from all over the world so I would love to learn some if you can teach me any. As well as this I like to volunteer and help raise money for charity. Right now, together with some other students from my university, I do fundraising for Mary's Meals. It's a charity which gives local volunteers and farmers the resources to feed kids in developing countries in their place of education. While I'm not a very creative person, I do sometimes like to write haikus to capture the memory of a moment or a person.
I hope that this is a good summary of me I was not very sure what to write. If you have any questions I would be happy to answer them :)Interests

I love to learn all kinds of new languages! Every time I travel to a new country I try and learn at least a few basic words and phrases. I sometimes feel a bit bad being a native English speaker and don't want to just expect everyone else to speak English for me! I also love to help others learn languages. Learning Spanish was one of the most fun and fulfilling things I've ever done, and I still benefit from whenever I travel and bump into Spanish-speaking people by chance. So I'd be super excited to be able to help others with their language learning journey as well.Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn

I speak both English and Spanish fluently, and have some experience helping friends/people in language exchanges learn one or the other. I've helped explain to them various rules of the language and techniques I use to help me remember different words, etc. I really enjoy doing this! It makes me think more about the languages that I speak and improves my knowledge at the same time by making me put my knowledge into words. And while I don't study linguistics or anything like that, it's still very interesting to me to see connections between languages, and all the different internal rules they have.
Living away from home as a student, I've been cooking for myself for 1.5 years now. Lots of the meals are just basic but I also like to make more complicated ones every so often such as quesadillas. This summer I worked as part of a team in the kitchen of a summer camp, making a variety of different meals for 3 months for a large quantity of people.
As well as this I also often bake various pastries, especially for friends for their birthdays. Most recently I made a tiramisu.
Part of my current part-time job is working as a receptionist, so I have lots of experience talking with customers and handling their needs, managing purchases and taking phone calls.
The other part of my job is being an activity instructor for the indoor high-ropes course and climbing wall. This has taught me about safety and adhering to regulations, as well as working with kids and keeping them engaged and having a good time. I also previously worked as a high-ropes specialist in a summer camp for 3 months.
I have also spent some time in the summers doing various kinds of manual labour, mainly moving and painting, so am accustomed to this as well.
As part of my charity fundraising I have gained skills in event organisation and collaborating with other organisations.
As well as this I am entirely willing, and even hoping to, learn new skills and try new things! So if necessary I will happily put all my effort into learning how to do something new, without hesitation.Age
