Description
***We have both done workaway and other volunteer experiences, just on a different account! We are happy to provider references if needed for verification ***
Hi! My name is Ava, I'm 25 years old, and work remotely in childcare consulting. I love traveling (fortunate enough to have been to 50 different countries and counting!) and always embrace the opportunity to give back to whatever host community I join. Having been born and raised in the woods of Massachusetts, I have an appreciation for wildlife, foraging, and preserving the land that sustains us. I've done Workaway in the past (on a different account with my friend), and have provided lots of help through vegan/vegetarian cooking, garden work (including harvesting, weeding, and building garden sheds and walkways), babysitting, petsitting (dogs, cats, roosters, goats, and more!), and overall am ready to learn and get my hands dirty. I currently teach yoga and used to be a vegan food blogger, and have leveraged those skills abroad as well. I find the most happiness when in a land full of nature and beauty, and being able to briefly live in a minimalist and ecofriendly escape from my normal day-to-day life living in New York City.Interests

More details about your skills
Ava teaches yoga and used to be a vegan/vegetarian food blogger, so can bring her spiritual and cooking skills to her host community. In previous workaway projects, she's done gardening, housework (to include cleaning, babysitting, mealprepping, organizing, and minor construction), petsitting (including monkeys at a monkey sanctuary in Panama), and is ready to get her hands dirty. She has yet to find a piece of Ikea furniture that she can't build. She speaks fluent English, and conversational Spanish and German. Overall, openminded, eco-conscious, ready to learn, and eager to please.
Tom - Growing up on Long Island, he spent a healthy amount of time on the bay and ocean - surf casting, deep sea fishing, clamming, crabbing, lifeguarding, and body surfing. He helps maintain a garden with garlic, berries, peppers, lettuces, tubers, fig trees, and a variety of flowers. Professionally, he is a first year medical student with years of experience in the healthcare industry. Last summer, he traveled to the big island of Hawaii to volunteer on a banana/coffee bean farm. He helped prune ginger fields, felled Sugi trees, repaired driveways, cook local seafood, and helped with other miscellaneous tasks. Overall, I'm an easy going, optimistic guy, once described as, "chipper", and can't wait to keep exploring the world to see what mother nature has to offer us.Age

What else ...
An ideal Saturday for us includes; cooking breakfast with fresh produce, a little sunshine stroll with our coffees, some form of exercise (Ava teaches yoga, Tom teaches CrossFit, and we both love running), some activity that makes us feel productive (we're both busy bees at heart). If we aren't home cooking dinner, trying a new recipe, or enjoying time with friends, we love to explore new neighborhoods in our own home city or abroad. Ava comes from a RummiKub family and Tom comes from a Pictionary family, however we aren't picky when it comes to board games.
