Description
Hello!
We are Mika and Noa.
We are a couple from England, both 23.
We are travelling in Brazil for 6 months from October 2024 - April 2025.
Our hope for the next 6 months is to connect with people who share the same dreams of living self-sufficiently in nature, and to learn about the history and cultures in Brazil that live in people's stories rather than in mainstream media. We are excited to learn Portuguese, as well as native Brazilian languages.
About us:
we are both experienced workawayers - Noa has experience with building a forest school in italy, child care, wool insulation, bee keeping , general garden maintenance, house maintenance (cooking , cleaning, decluttering).Mika has experience with carpentry (built a bamboo screen), propagating , scything , harvesting and preserving, general house maintenance as well (cooking, cleaning , decluttering).
Outside of workaway, Noa is a full-time gardener, and has worked with children and adults with complex needs in alternative creative education. Noa loves to create art and music, they recently put together a community choir where everyone created a score together and performed it at a concert!
Mika has just finished university (studying anthropology), and has done anti-border work and hopes to work in migrant justice advocacy . Mika is also interested in massage therapy and loves to make art, and would like to do more murals and large-scale art work with people of all ages.
We would love to learn more about herbology, natural medicines and cures, spirituality, permaculture and bio construction and carpentry! We love to feel part of something bigger, a community or family. We are both beginners in capoeira, learning in London with Mestre Pastel from Bahia. We'd love to practice some more and learn more about histories and stories around it.
We have both grown up in Cities. so we are ready to embrace the challenges and novelties that come with living in new environments (ie being submerged in nature). We are calm , accepting , hard-working people who thrive in respectful and loving environments, and we practice non-violent communication :)Interests
