What excites me the most is connecting with others who share this compassion and the drive to create positive change in the world. Beyond my love for animals, I am always eager to engage with people from all walks of life. Shelter/Animal Handling Experience
- Shelter Manager + Volunteer - Cal Poly Cat Program - San Luis Obispo, CA
In this position, I oversaw and treated the medical and behavioral needs of over 200 cats, and made decisions regarding animal ethics, quality of life, medical procedures, finances, fundraising, events, etc. (August 2021 - June 2023)
- Core Dog Volunteer - SLO County Animal Services - San Luis Obispo, CA
In this position, I provided exercise, enrichment, and socialization opportunities for dogs of various breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments, and took dogs on outings around the county while providing the community with information regarding the animals at the shelter, the adoption process, and overall adoption benefits (July 2023 - June 2024)
- I grew up with multiple animals from shelters (mainly dogs) and was the main one in my household to feed them, clean up after them, train them, and treat their medical needs.
Work Experience
- For two years, I worked at a bed and breakfast where my duties consisted of but were not limited to: serving customers, cooking meals and preparing ingredients, cleaning the kitchen and lobby, aiding customers and answering their questions/needs, answering phone calls and emails, aiding housekeeping with cleaning rooms, doing small repairs, gardening, and more!
- I have also worked as a barista and cashier, and am very good at following directions, multitasking, and remaining calm in a loud/exciting environment.
Hobbies
- I have many different interests and love to learn new things, but some of my favorites include painting, weightlifting, hiking, baking, horseback riding, and snorkeling.
