  • Description

Originally from the UK I’ve made travelling a big part of my life since I finished school. and have worked in a lot of different jobs, travelled to many places; so I Iike to think I can be a helpful and adaptable workawayer! For the last 8 years I have been studying, living and working in Amsterdam for 8 years. I'm ready to leave the city so I am starting an explorative period of returning more towards the environments and activities that nourish my soul! I hope to find projects with a focus on sustainability, spending time in raw nature, creativity, eco-social initiatives. There's many things I"m excited to get stuck into, i'm not gonna list them all here :) Getting out of the comfort zone, developing new unexpected skills to inspire and feed the next life chapter - is the plan! I'm a fit and enthusiastic person not afraid of hard work.

I've travelled and worked in the France, Canada and Austria over the years usually during the winter and spring to make the most of the snow season.
Before and after that I've spent quite a bit of time in Portugal and then visited Sri Lanka, India, Morocco and many other european countries and through Central America back when I was 18 as my first big trip. I feel incredibly lucky to have had these experiences and travelled so much, this ease of travel is not available to so many. But now my relationship with tourism is changing and I really want to connect on a deeper level by exchanging and helping people with their projects. I am past the days of traveling for the sake of travelling (mostly :) )

I enjoy connecting with others and moving within my environment through the outdoors - hiking, snowboarding, surfing, jumping into cold lakes, building fires, but also cooking, sharing food and singing and making music/ meditative/dance practices etc :)
I love to learn new things and get down to the nitty gritty! Equal to that laughing feeds my soul and I like to practice not always taking things too seriously!
I love a good conversation and connecting with people is what brings me a lot of energy be it on philosophy, food systems, music, adventure planning, psychology, spirituality, films etc etc .. life is full :)

Living near the ocean or in the mountains brings me a lot of energy and joy, so this is the environment I would like to move back towards eventually, preferably living in a functioning community when it feels right.

  • More details about your skills

Starting with my work: Physiotherapy and (sports) massage - happy to share and help bodies feel and move better as I move around 🙂
Yoga - have practised for many years and did my Hatha teacher training in India last year. More broad 'explorative movement' practices and playfight that I have been exploring the past couple of years.
    Pranayama breathwork teaching course

Basic DIY but keen to learn more - Have helped my Dad with DIY since being a kid, since then have helped on basic construction projects during festivals and done my own renovations with basic DIY… Love power tools :) Very keen to develop skills especially with eco building projects.

Vegan/vegetarian cooking - I love to cook and experimental baking projects are always a good distraction from the stresses of life! Have experience also cooking for large groups of kids in India and for large groups during festivals in make shift outside kitchens

Basic gardening and landscaping - this year I rented a space in an urban garden to start my own veggie patch - it was a bad season but a great experiment! But grew up in the environment of green fingered parents. I am keen to learn more about permaculture and regenerative farming. Have also done basic paid gardening jobs in the past.

Animals - during my teenage years I worked during the weekends looking after sheltered horses - mucking out, tacking up, helping with classes and riding them also. Magnificent animals! I miss being around them. Have also helped on a farm during lambing season in France, that was hard work but magical.

Children: none of my own yet! But come from a large family was always designated babysitter ;) and have also done paid babysitting work, love kids - they have a lot to teach us!

I did quite a bit of hospitality work back in the day - so I’m used to customer service roles, serving, hosting - anticipating peoples needs in general.

Creative projects: love to sing and make music * very much a rookie but learning :)
this year experimented with botanical printing and cyanotype printing super beautiful.

When it comes to the wilderness I also am a decent campfire builder - definitely a keen fire tenderer and not afraid of taking over if its looking like it needs it!
