  • Description

Hello! I just quit my job as a computer programmer to take some time travelling. I am currently on a backpacking trip going from Norway to New Zealand and everywhere in between. While on this trip, I hope to learn about different cultures and what daily life is like in places I have never been to. I am an easy going guy with a good work ethic.

I enjoy trying new things. It's fun to be pushed out of my comfort zone and to go into things not knowing what to expect. Some of my hobbies include hiking, fishing, reading, camping, music, exploring, games(board, video, sports). One hobby I would like to learn more about is foraging. I've gone a couple times with others and it was always fun learning about different plants and mushrooms.

I like to hear peoples' minds about any and everything. I think having different opinions on topics can be a good thing. Two of my favorite things to talk about are past travels/ life experiences and science/technology(computers, astronomy, environmental science, etc.). I also like learning about new topics that I haven't formed an opinion on yet. One thing I'd like to expand my knowledge on is spiritualism. Spiritualism hasn't been a big part of my life up to this point and I'd like to change that.

I grew up living in the woods with a family that liked being outdoors. This gave me some experience in clearing trails in the woods, building structures, planting food plots, and driving small machinery. This also gave me a love for being outside and enjoying nature.

Going to college I acquired a degree in computer science. I did this because in high school I was on the robotics team and liked engineering solutions both physically and with software. So I have a knack for solving problems technology related. One thing I've learned while working with technology is it is important to be a quick learner(even if your inexperienced in the area). Technology is always changing which means you have to keep up with the latest and greatest items.

While in college and high school I had 3 jobs that involved teaching others. My first in high school was teaching elementary students how to play sports(football, baseball, soccer). Then in college I taught elementary students science related subjects(robots, rockets, airplanes). Finally in my last year of college I was a teaching assistant helping other students learn basic C . After college, I spent one year being a programmer for an insurance company before I left to embark on my journey!

  • What else ...

I love learning new things. I may not be the best to begin with, but I think I am a quick learner. This isn't just for work related items. Learning about new hobbies, games, recipes, lifestyles, religions, etc... is all fun to me.

Personally I am joining workaway to grow as a person and help others along my travels.
