Hello, Nihao, Konnichiwa!

We are a Japanese-Singaporean couple who has been traveling full-time since August 2024 to end our long-distance relationship (12,812km of distance to be exact), and are now excited to explore the beauty of New Zealand. Hiroki is a country boy while Pearlynn grew up in the city - together, we are hoping to discover what home and a life together can look like for us through homestays and meeting other families with love for nature, sustainable living, and a peaceful life.

In our previous lives (before life on the road), Hiroki was a software developer while Pearlynn worked for national parks in operations, community engagement, and even policy formulation roles. We both loved our jobs and would be keen to engage with hosts or workawayers with similar interests!

We enjoy slow travel and being in nature, love animals, and are always happy to meet new people! We just spent 9 months touring South America and our fondest memories would be a homestay with a Colombian family where we experienced the Colombian way of life, generosity, and kindness.

In our free time, you can find Hiroki biking, cooking or gardening; while Pearlynn is either doing yoga, reading, or more likely than not, giving all her love, time, and cuddles to any animals that she meets.

- Gardening - hiroki had a small urban garden in his apartment in Vancouver growing edibles, and different herbs and spices

- Handling and working with animals - both hiroki and pearlynn volunteered at a wildlife rescue center in Ecuador preparing meals and feeding the animals, cleaning enclosures, conducting training and curating enrichment activities or working on enclosure improvement projects to keep the animals engaged. Aside from that, Pearlynn absolutely loved her 18yo fur baby, a Dachshund mix who crossed the rainbow in Oct 2023.
