Description
We are two friends currently studying in Bern, Switzerland. We both grew up in eastern Switzerland and first met during an exchange to Barcelona during high school. Since then we've been on many adventures, the biggest one probably being a six month backpacking trip through South America two years ago. We're excited to travel again during our semester break this summer :)
I, Mia, am currently studying Psychology, Neuroscience and Geography. I’m deeply interested in human nature, and learning from people with different perspectives is something that continuously inspires me. I feel most at home in nature—not just admiring its beauty, but seeking to live in harmony with it and, wherever possible, give something back. In my free time, I love to dance as a way of reconnecting with my body and expressing myself. I’m also someone who thrives in community and enjoys exploring new surroundings—whether on foot or by bike.
I, Johanna, am studying Geography with a minor in Geology. I’ve always loved being outdoors, and my studies let me connect with landscapes and read the stories they hold. I enjoy climbing, hiking, or heading into the mountains with a tent. I sing in a choir, work at a school for children with special needs, and really enjoy knitting. Besides knitting, yoga and meditation really help me to slow down in this busy world. I did a yoga teacher training while travelling in South America and lately I’ve been getting more into meditation through Vipassana. I’m a curious person and love exploring — both the world around me and what’s going on in my own head.
Johanna did a workaway during our trip through South America and loved the slower and more intentional way of travelling. This summer we'd like to combine a bikebacking trip with a couple of weeks of volunteering and getting to know the local community. We'd love to expand our knowledge on gardening and natural construction and can't wait to be in nature for a longer period of time.

We have both worked with children at a school for children with special needs. Johanna has worked in different cafes and catering businesses while Mia is currently working as an assistance in the psychiatric clinic. We both enjoy hands on work and used to garden at home.
