Hello everyone!
We are Lucy and Fin, a Scottish couple ready to take on a Canadian winter! We have enjoyed doing WorkAways since arriving, which have included a range of tasks such as DIY, cleaning, farm work/animal husbandry, chainsaw & wood splitting, driving ATVs, organising and general labour.
Our travels have seen us cycling across Europe, backpacking in South America and living and working in New Zealand. After a 'brief' stop home (which ended up being almost 3 years!) we are ready for more travel, experiences and, hopefully, Workaways.
By profession, Lucy is a scientist and Fin is an engineer but we have worn various different hats over the years and are always enthusiastic to learn and experience new things. Whilst in New Zealand, we had jobs such as workaway/HelpX on farms, dog and house sitting, warehousing, labouring and a few other things in between.

We are both very active, sporty and love the outdoors. You'll often find us hiking, running, scuba diving, kayaking, snowsports or playing rugby, shinty or camogie (the latter two being Scottish/Irish sports). We enjoy being hands on and working hard, sharing experiences with others and having fun along the way.

Fin is an engineer and Lucy is a scientist so we are both practical and enjoy problem solving. For the past couple of years, Fin has been working in renewable energy and sustainability consulting. Away from our day jobs we enjoy learning new things. For instance, we have both just completed a beginners metalwork course, learning skills such as grinding, welding and plasma cutting. We like to think we can turn our hand to most things and learn quickly, giving everything our best effort!
A few other 'expertise, experience and abilities' that pop to mind are:
Fin spent much of his childhood on the family farm, learning everything that comes with it. Whilst in New Zealand, we also operated a dog walking/pet care service, and just love working with animals.
Both of us love sports (watching and playing), so like to keep ourselves fit and active. In some of our recent travels, we cycled from France to Romania (~3,000 miles), camping most nights along the way.
We both have experience in hospitality, including hotel, bar, restaurant and retail.
When it comes to cleaning, either in our home or at work, we take pride in bringing out the shine and keeping things neat, tidy and organised.
We recently renovated our apartment in Scotland so have been keeping our DIY skills up to scratch.
As we have both been through science/engineering degrees at university, we have good knowledge of computers and tech.
We both have full, clean UK drivers licences (both held for 10+ years).
We enjoy working in the garden, often found working in the garden at Lucy's family home planting, pruning, grass cutting and most recently, erecting a deer fence.
We are very close to our four nieces and nephews (all under the age of 7) and are very comfortable working with young children, having both done children's sports coaching. Fin also spent a summer at a camp in America caring for children with additional needs such as spina bifida, diabetes and Tourette's.
