Hi! I'm Marleen and I'm from the Netherlands. I'm 28 years old :)
Learning new things and skills gets me super excited! I love to broaden my knowledge and worldview. This is why I'm interested in a wide range of activities/work/experiences. A few of my interests include working with animals, living remotely, living in challenging weather, being in a culture completely different from my own, working and playing with kids, outside work, DIY/building. I would love for you to teach me what you know!
Workaways are an opportunity for me to challenge myself to see and do new things, delve into different worlds and experiences, meeting new people and having a good time, while also helping people out. To me this combination is so powerful!
I love to be active and outdoors and I'm always keen to go hiking, cycling, work in the garden, play sports, and other outside activities. When inside I enjoy things like painting, reading, yoga, and of course I love a good old movie night. I would love to learn knitting and/or crochet!
I'd like to have a workaway experience where I am around people. Not all the time - I definitely love having my own space and time - but I know I'm going to be my happiest self whenever there are people (either hosts / hosts family / other volunteers) around to share the experience with! I definitely don't mind doing work on my own, but outside work tasks I'd love to feel like a part of a community or family :)

I studied and worked in webdesign and marketing, and also finished a masters degree in communication, cognition and language sciences. I love learning fun facts about languages and I will always be interested in your language (and find me trying to learn it on Duolingo).
I also worked in the food service industry, as a barista in a coffeeshop and in the kitchen of a lunch cafe. I love the hard work and the rush! Chatting with people is also a fun part of the job for me.
I babysat kids from the age of 7 to 12 for about a year (I still do it sporadically now) and I would really like to gain more experience in that area. I learned so much from spending my days with kids and had so much fun!
I think overall I'm a social, easygoing, calm and happy person to be around. I'm a loyal and trustworthy worker and I'm always eager to learn new things! Depending on the kind of work, I might take some days to get used to new work and tasks, but when I do - there's no stopping me :)
Other than that I of course contribute to normal house chores, cooking, cleaning, and anything other that is needed while living together.

What else ...
I love animals! I have always lived with cats and dogs but my love for animals is not limited to them. For instance, I would love to work with farm animals such as cows, pigs, sheep and goats. I also love looking at birds and a whole lot of other wild animals.
I like to do (amateur) photography.
I can help with setting up / maintaining a website and social media.
I'd love to meet other travellers and create new friendships :)
