Hello! My name is Maya and I've dreamt about traveling the world since before I can remember. I hope to see as much of other cultures and regions as I can in my lifetime and will take up any opportunity to learn new things. More specifically, I am passionate about working with children, spending time outdoors, journaling, meditating, reading, and learning everything I can! I am currently in college and hope to attend law school in America after I receive my bachelor's degree. I am not sure exactly what I hope to do for a career yet, but I know it must involve travel. I am a very philosophical person and believe in showing kindness and gratitude whenever I can. I strongly believe that we can all learn from one another if we choose to be receptive and open-minded. I have many ambitions and goals and want to be fluent in Spanish (and many other languages) one day.
I am looking for a host (or host family!) that will make me feel at home. My first international trip through Workaway was to Girona, Spain. I stayed with a family and helped their son with his English. This experience opened my eyes to the possibilities and showed me what it is like to have a host that truly makes me feel welcome. I hope to have more experiences like my time in Spain and look forward to meeting many new people! I want to learn everything about your culture and country and would love to offer help whenever I can. I am a resilient and strong woman with the drive and motivation to work hard wherever it is needed. I am up for absolutely any challenge and look forward to creating long-lasting memories all across the globe. :)

Education, Experience, and Certifications:
- Lifeguard First Aid, AED, and CPR Certified in 2018
- Trained as a peer counselor for my high school in 2021
- Camp counselor for a week-long outdoor education program (supervised a group of 13 kids ages 10-12)
- Completed political internship for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in the summer of 2020
- Completed California Food Handler's Certification in November 2022
- Graduated from highschool in May 2022
- Currently attending College of San Mateo (in California) for Pre-Law studies
- Worked as a swim instructor for children ages 3-15 for 5+ years
