  • Description

Hello! My name is Mickey (they/them), and I am a student in Boston, MA. I am looking for some grueling farm work: I want to get my hands dirty! I have so much to learn from the world, and I am ready to go see it for myself. Right now, I am desperate to work with bees.

I am motivated by the beauty of nature. I love the Earth more than I can put into words, and my dream would be to dedicate my life to living sustainably. I am a potter; I began about 9 years ago and I have been teaching classes for 5 years. I would be more than happy to teach wheel throwing. I love art in all its forms, including music. I play the violin and would love to learn more about jazz.

    También, hablo Español.

Currently I am looking to travel during early August, with my friend Aidan.

I am up for any type of work, but I am especially excited to learn about permaculture, farming infrastructure, irrigation techniques, and other self-sustaining practices. I would also love to build things: I've always been really interested in woodworking and would love to learn more. I am also an artist, I am always happy to help paint, teach ceramics classes, whatever you'd like!

I am also looking to get certified to teach English en paises hispanoablantes, so if you know of any opportunities around you I would be very interested!

I am vegetarian and love to cook. I would be eager and excited to help out with cooking-related tasks and would love to learn more about what plant-based diets mean to you! I am flexible and willing to make necessary adjustments.

Overall I am excited to travel and engage in different styles of living.

I love the Earth with everything I have. A main reason I am looking for farm work is so I can reconnect with the Earth and surround myself in nature. I consider myself a fairly spiritual person although I do not practice or align with any organized religions. The Earth is the closest thing I have to a god, and I would be very happy humbly devoting myself to her. The city lifestyle is not for me and I am desperate for something else!

I pride myself in not being picky. I am excited to be challenged by things I can't even anticipate. I am traveling to grow and I sincerely hope it is difficult! I'm not looking for a vacation or a resort, I am looking for a genuine experience no matter what that looks like.

Hello! My name is Aidan (he/him).

I am one of Mickey's close friends and I was hoping to join them for a work away! I haven't been on any of these trips yet but I love to leave my comfort zone and I cannot wait to learn and do as much as I can.

In my free time I love to bike ride, rock climb and build my own Lego creations! I love all types of music and art but specifically sculpture and 60’s progressive rock :). I also like to spend a lot of my time tinkering and fixing whatever I can. It's very important to me that I know how to repair and get the most of the things that I own. I try my hardest to not be wasteful and sustainability is very important to me. Because of this I am very interested in being able to make and grow my own food. I grew up a picky eater but I am quickly making up for lost time and I love to cook! I would be more than happy to help with cooking, cleaning, and truly I do not mind doing the dishes. It's almost therapeutic for me.

I have spent the last few summers learning carpentry and have made a couple of my own tables, lamps, cutting boards and other household pieces. I have also done a lot of general home improvement work such as rot repair, painting, and so much more. I am looking to build upon my skill set and provide assistance in any projects you might have! The last few summers have taught me how to work efficiently with others, get sweaty and dirty, and also basic skills I can use to take care of my own home one day.

The reason I am so interested in work away trips is I firmly believe a human is made up of their experiences. What makes someone a better person is their ability to experience as much as they can in this world and reflect thoughtfully upon it. That world however is not found in resorts or in pre planned vacations, it is found in people and in their lives. Like Mickey I am not interested in anything easy! I want to be challenged and see a part of the world that I could not find anywhere else.
