Ava and I (Philip) are both US citizens and recent college graduates who are now teaching English in secondary schools in Spain.
Coming from less urban parts of Virginia, we miss nature, open space, and the countryside. We love to read, cook, explore, craft, and work with our hands. We love animals, exploring new (especially natural) places at a slower pace, and meeting people along the way.

We both speak Spanish and have spent much of our adult lives cooking all sorts of cuisines and experimenting with flavors. We like cooking for big groups and enjoy learning about food. We're both clean and neat, and we enjoy living and working in organized spaces. We are also both able-bodied and in good shape, happy and willing to perform physical labor.
Philip has extensive wood working experience and spent a year in Vermont at a wood working school. He designed and constructed a set of room dividers and benches for individuals in Virginia. Philip also has experience with audio recording for music and podcasts, arranging music for performance, and is a talented vocalist and musician. He is handy and well-equipped to help with repairs around the house. He is also proficient in Python, STATA, MatLab, ArcGIS, QGIS, Rhino 3D, and SolidWorks.
Ava has experience working with young children and tutoring in subjects including reading, writing, and basic math and science skills. She is a strong editor. She enjoys creative writing and design, and is proficient in Adobe Suite applications including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere Pro and has a background in photography. She has written scripts for the stage and produced a short film in college. She enjoys theater and performance, and also has experience with basic costume and lighting design.

We love board games! We also both love to read and enjoy creative pursuits such as music and drawing. We are community-oriented people and look forward to sharing our own skills and experiences while learning about others.
