Description
Hi there! I'm Petey, I'm a student from the Southeast US traveling in New Zealand for a semester. I've been studying outdoor recreation and Māori studies at the University of Canterbury for the past few months. I grew up in a diy home doing projects with my family and helping my mom with her garden, and it's been a goal of mine my whole life to find more people who are excited about getting crafty and integrating sustainability into their lives. I'm a work hard play hard kind of gal and I love meeting new people who are the same. I'm new to workaway but I have a ton of experience with diy home projects, a little bit of gardening/yard work experience, and I've been babysitting and doing childcare with kids of all ages for years. I love to cook and bake and I love learning new recipes and sharing my own favorites. I'm very family oriented and I love meeting new people and learning new things!

More details about your skills
I have a little bit of construction experience building smaller structures and some minor landscaping. I love being outside, so any project that involves planting, gardening, trail work, or animals I'm all game for. I don't have any experience with animals outside of taking care of pets, but I love all animals and human/other-than-human relationships are a main area of study back home. I'm very crafty- I love to work with my hands and find creative solutions to problems. I have a lot of outdoor recreation experience- I can build a mean camp fire- and I'm super passionate about getting kids into the outdoors and teaching them practical skills. My biggest assets are my can-do attitude and quick learning.

What else ...
I grew up in a super rural part of the southern Appalachian mountains, so I have no problem living in the middle of nowhere without phone service.
I'm non-binary, so I'm definingly looking for a queer-friendly family. Even if you haven't been around many queer folks, I'm still happy to join your house if you're coming from a place of love and empathy :).Some more information
