Hello and Kia Ora to everyone!
We are Sophie and Cameron, a couple taking a year out to travel, volunteer, work, explore and learn and share as much as we can in New Zealand.
After meeting at teacher training to become Geography teachers, we thought you can't teach about the world without going to explore it and that plan is coming true!
We chose New Zealand due to lots of reasons, the love of the sea (Sophie grew up going to the beach EVERY day), an interest in learning about the culture and most importantly the absolutely amazing nature across Aotearoa.
We are outdoorsy, ready to get stuck in and try anything, very outgoing, pretty good cooks (at least according to each other... we are also vegetarians ) and eager to learn from anybody that will share their knowledge - from birds (Cameron needs to learn to do some bird songs...) to hiking routes and local history.
We are so greatful that we have the opportunity to travel NZ so would love to see how we can help each other with like minded people. Please do check out or Skills section for some highlights of what we can offer!
Living sustainably and in harmony with nature around us is so important to us and something we bonded over when we met, so we are eager to see and experience that lifestyle in Aotearoa!Interests

More details about your skills
We work well in a team and independently. We are fit and lead an active lifestyle, hence the choice to come to New Zealand and do some Workaways!
Some key skills we have:
🛍️ Both of us have done retail work leading teams in this role, so we can work well as a team and equally are self motivated to get the job done!
🐾Sophie has just finished work at a dog food company for 1 year (the dream for any animal lover!) and has previously done a WorkAway at a goat farm, so although we both love all animals and would love to experience more of the farm life!
🏦Cameron meanwhile has worked in 2 difference finance jobs which revolved around vulnerable customers from all walks of life.
⚽️ Cameron is also the sportier of us both, hiring the gym and playing football. We are also both keen runners!
🌍We both are also Qualified Teachers in Geography! Teaching from the ages of 11-18 in lessons from weather, flood defence. population and pur personal favs of Geopolitics and Geogrpahy of the Ocean. hence we are both creative, have done a lot of problem solving (brainstorming solutions and also on the spot in lessons!) and work both independently as well as in a team, plus loads of other skills that are part of being a teacher!
Overall, we are both very outgoing people that have excelled in a number of different jobs that has provided us with the platform from which to help in many ways. As we are travelling we would love the opportunity to put this to the test, in doing so helping people and nature along the way to maximize our travelling time in the wonderful New Zealand.Age
