Description

I am Syifa, originally from Indonesia and a full-time travel vlogger (youtube.com/syifaadriana) that has amassed 395,000 subscribers on Youtube.

I started my solo travel in 2013 and stepped out of my home country in 2014 only to find out that the world has so much to offer and for me to learn. After working for U.S. govt-funded projects, I managed to save up to $1000 to pursue full-time travel and left Indonesia in August 2016. My sense of curiosity about life on the road was so huge that I basically had to defy my own culture as leaving family and my home country for full-time travel is something that is extremely rare in Asian countries.

In 2016, I started documenting my travel on Youtube while volunteering in Malaysia and Northern Thailand with hosts I found on Workaway. Over the past years, I have also used Couchsurfing and stayed with multiple different hosts throughout the world (https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/syifaadriana)

Left with $300 in my bank account and after 4 months on the road, I got a job offer to teach English in Northwest China in January 2017. I lived alone, taught English, learned basic Chinese, travelled around Northwest China, and survived living in a non-Google world for over a year and a half. My urge to keep pursuing full-time travel was the reason why I decided to do Youtube as my full-time job in May 2018. It was scary to take such a big leap of faith, not knowing much about videography and good story-telling, let alone thinking that I could earn a living.

Despite the challenges and unique life it brings, I have not regretted my decision to be a travel vlogger. I enjoy the creative side of travel video making where I get to follow my sense of wonder and curiosity, learn about different cultures and stay with different people/families in different parts of the world. As an Indonesian passport holder, my passport doesn't have a lot of flexibility in allowing me to travel to different countries without considering travel visa restrictions. Therefore I have a great fondness for slow travel while allowing myself to take the time to culturally immerse in different cultures.

In 2022, I have recently moved to the UK. A relationship has brought me here and we got married in the summer. As of now, England is my home base while continuing my travel to different places in the world.

My professional background is international politics before switching to becoming a travel vlogger. I do enjoy a slow-paced, quiet life and appreciate little things. I am fond of having conversations, building relationships with hosts and interactions with local people.

I enjoy long walks in nature, love babies, am good with kids, enjoy taking buses and adore train journeys. I do enjoy dogs' company and am particularly eager to learn more about horses. I'll make sure that I am honest, polite, friendly and will keep things tidy :-)

I am personally always curious about farm life, village life, and generally interested in learning new knowledge from people who live in a remote community.
