Small acreage that started out as an off grid weekend cabin for our family and friends to unplug from urban life, and ended up being added to as our full time residence. A little slice of nature heaven designed to encourage an indoor outdoor lifestyle balance and let our inner child play. We have a big goofy sheepdog and two Siamese cats living their best life in the forest. We're always adding little projects, like a wood sauna (completed) and hopefully a (future) glass treehouse made of recycled windows in the birch forest behind our home. We'd be thrilled to host those willing to lend a hand on fun projects that allow us to continue making our place a fun haven to get away from the grind.
Ourselves and many of our friends and family are neurodivergent and we pride ourselves in being welcoming and accommodating of sensory and emotional challenges. Nature is a fantastic therapy, whether it be listening to bird song through a window from a cozy bed, a hammock on a screen porch in the rain, wandering through the woods or eating a meal cooked with ingredients grown right on the land.
We have a cozy little bunkhouse with solar power, heated by wood stove with tiny oven, as well a lots of space for a small van/camper and plenty of room for tents (which we can provide)
Indoor plumbing in main house as well as outdoor kitchen, outhouse and stunning off grid sauna shower with forest views. We are located immediately off a trail system and wetlands, and are a few kilometers from the North Saskatchewan River which offers a wide range of activities.our gardens are lush and features an adorable water feature and beachy sitting area. We promise you'll find yourself relaxed and cozy.

We love cooking and learning about other cultures cuisine. We mostly eat plant based and gluten free (two celiacs in the home) but don't expect others to follow our restrictions as long as they are mindful of cross contamination.
We enjoy dabbling with foraging and natural medicines and are always happy to exchange knowledge and practices.
We're open to learning about other ways of life and enjoy finding common grounds with those who wander into our path.

  • Ayuda

    Ayuda

Those who are willing to help with day to day tasks while we work on projects or those who are handy and able to help with small construction projects like decks, sheds, etc. Even help weeding and watering or other yard maintenance that allows us to keep this place a safe and comfortable refuge for people to recharge.
We take a lot of pride in knowing our friends and family can come here to relax and rejuvenate without spending anything other than the fuel to drive here, but it takes a lot of work to maintain.
We see the struggle of financial barriers to relaxation and strive to provide the opportunity to unwind to those who may not be able to afford a getaway to nature without judgement or financial burden.

    Algo más...

We are quite rural, and the two nearest towns are 20-25km away. We make regular trips to town as well as typically weekly or bi-weekly trips to larger cities. We do have bicycles we're happy to lend to explore however we are surrounded by glacial ice age carved hills so there are many steep inclines.
We do enjoy going for drives and would be happy to include guests.

We have a flat space in the driveway for a small campervan or small trailer to be parked with a power outlet nearby. Our home is located 2 minutes from a campground with Sani dump.

We are not fenced in, and we have cats who go outside in the yard so aggressive dogs or dogs who may run away would not be an ideal fit. We do have bears, birds of prey and small predators in the area which requires a level of supervision and mindfulness. (they stay out of the yard as we're outside quite regularly, but they're seen often in the neighborhood.

    Timmy

Timmy was a stray bouncing from house to house in our neighborhood while everyone thought he lived with someone else. He still thinks the entire neighborhood is his, but he seems to appreciate a warm bed on a rainy night and keeps coming back. Big snuggle bug, and his personality keeps coming out more and more as he gets comfortable with having a house and regular vet care for the pesky bugs he had to deal with on the mean streets.

    Pancakedogfood

Senior princess, loves sitting in the garden and checking everything out. Doesn't like dogs much as she was attacked in her younger years. Tolerates our dog but generally prefers to hide when new dogs visit. World mouse catching champion, at least in my books

    Ralph

Rescue dog we think is a Bergamasco sheepdog. Big chicken baby, loves walks and going to bed at 8:30 like an old man. Friendly but skiddish at first. Has some joint issues due to having lived outdoors in the harsh winter and an injury to his hind legs that required surgery at the time he was picked up by the rescue group.
