Ok long story short I was at Svenjas place in November last year and Im writing now in July. Not because I want to ruin this project bust because I need to share the experience- sadly with a bad end.
At first the project, the land and the dogs are great. I never felt that the work or the dogs where to much. But the expectations for this big
… read more amount of responsibility. I was alone there with Svenja- planned to stay for 2 or 3 weeks if I remember right. The Volunteers before me just left secretly because something happened- she told me. I really enjoyed to be with the dogs but of course the fear of loosing one dog was big in the first days.
And the biggest problem was Svenja and I totaly didnt matched. Ive never experienced such a bad vibe. She is full time busy- of course it's a one man show. But there was no space for mistakes or too much questions. I was enough for her after the 3 day- just because I asked again for the way through the forest. I told her I need maybe a little bit more time in the beginning to remember and she said no I don't have time for that. She said I need to stay as long as she founds someone else- no other option. I totally understand that she needed a little bit time to reorganize- but our vibe and fights got bigger and bigger. Every small thing was wrong and I have to say I made mistakes but thats how it is if you feel like every step of you will be somehow wrong. I tried to ask what can I do better but also this annoyed her after a time.
The day I left she was busy again and something happened again- so she was pissed. She said to me #redacted text# (something rude in German) and didnt helped me to get back to civilization.
So I had to walk 45 min in the sun- no traffic at all. But I did it out there and the station before hosted me again for some days.
Thanks for understanding. We both made mistakes thats for sure- thats just my experience with her and I wanted to share it before my workaway memebership goes off.Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.

If you want to experience something and need challenges and action, Svenja is the right place for you. Svenja's everyday life has shown me again that you can't really plan anything in Portugal, but that's exactly what is beautiful on the other hand. So you always have surprising moments in life that you can laugh at afterwards.
I was with her for
… read more a total of 6 weeks and am now going stronger and definitely with more knowledge. Svenja could not only (partly forced) show/ tevery me something about cars, but also gave me a completely new connection to animals. And that's exactly what Svenja's life is all about - the animals. It was incredibly fun to learn more about the characteristics of the dogs, the horses or even the donkey from day to day. In the end, I could understand the looks of the animals and understood accordingly how they act.
If you like to work with animals and love this, then Svenja is definitely in the right place for you. She is a wonderful person who does a lot to ensure that everyone is well and everyone feels comfortable.
I had a very nice time with her and am very grateful that she was my first hostess at Workaway. I wish you all the best and we will definitely meet again.☀️Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.
