He helped me do a couple of things that have been on my list for ages, one of which was recycling materials I had at hand to
… read more finally build a proper wood store! He really helped me get a handle of the things I needed to do and progress to the things I wanted to. He's also a thoughtful, kind guy with lots of stories of a life well lived. My dog loved going on long walks with him and is definitely missing him now he's continued on with his big adventure. If you have the opportunity to host Andrew you will be very blessed indeed! Andrew we hope to see you next time you're back on the north coast of Spain!

She has a lot of practical skills, is a creative problem solver, is wonderful with animals and cooks tasty, interesting meals and bakes cakes! … read more front door; she chopped wood and helped me start fencing in the fruit trees, she also took my dog on lovely walks so I could work, and helped me run some errands prepping for winter. So helpful!
She was a wonderful member of this tiny community. It was great to spend time with her and benefit from her life experience and wisdom. 100% recommend. A beautiful person!

I've learned through my off grid house project that we have to have a plan and a vision, but we also have to know how to adapt and take opportunities when the weather and our ideas align. I stayed at Emma's place for a couple of days in June 2023. We have met through mutual friends who are also on Workaway and had a very good connection right away from the beginning. Unfortunately it was raining quite a lot in these days. Therefore we weren't able to do huge processes with the practical matters outside. Just a little bit. Instead
… read more we were running for errands in the next town, together with Sunny, her very well behaved dog, and did some organizational stuff. Besides that we had a good time exchanging personal experiences and ideas while having cups of tea and/or some nice tunes from the guitar. That exchange really stood out to me and I am taking it with me along the way. PS: The place in the greens is really something when, as in my case, coming out of a big town. Andrea was such a conscientious workawayer to host. She has an eye for detail and is meticulous at carrying out instructions. There were many tasks that she'd not done before and she performed them all well. Her end result was often better than mine! She is organised and tidy and it's very easy to host her.

… read more arrived and she was kind and patient with me whilst I recharged my batteries. She doesn't mention it on her profile but she is excellent at baking cakes! With courgette season in full flow she spoiled me with courgette cake. The 2 weeks went too quickly and I wish she could have stayed longer. I hope you come back soon Andrea!

I stayed for 2 weeks at Emma's place and found it really peaceful and beautiful as it is surrounded by stunning views. Emma is super kind and friendly 😊 I needed some days to get used to the work and everything but overall it was a wonderful experience that allowed me to learn new skills, new recipes, meet beautiful people and beautiful animals

How lucky I was that another host had let Michael down and he was looking for a lastminute place! Michael has grown up outdoorsy and knows a little bit about a lot of things which comes in really helpful on an offgrid project. … read more capable with his practical skills and didn't need much more than a quick explanation before doing a good job on everything. He did a great job of repointing the outside wall of the house with lime mortar and helped me mix up a bath full of clay plaster ready for the next wall inside the house.
He organised himself really well in managing his digital nomad work and his volunteering hours, still leaving time for sharing time and experiences together. He was great company and I enjoyed the general camaderie of having him about the place. He's a great cook and I really miss his meals already. In short, 1 week wasn't enough, you're going to want at least 2 weeks with this lovely chap.

Emma and Sunny became friends on the first day (three days for Charlie). I had a great week and Emma kindly accepted me on short notice.
Really great vibe to the place, basic but Emma shows her love of the lifestyle and nature in everything she does so it was a beautiful experience.

Had some nice trips to the beach for a walk and my first singing circle which was a great event.
For work in my week there:
strimming, repointing, making mud for plastering and plastering inside the house, making more mud, planting a badass oak tree.

… read more thrifty and used it to put up shelves in the shed and prepare a new raised bed for the garden.
She was happy to work on her own, taking responsibility for tasks and coming back to uncompleted tasks I'd diverted her from throughout the week. I preferred to work with her as she is an great collaborator with good recommendations to help an idea grow. We got so many things done together with our woman power, whilst also taking lots of lovely walks with our dogs together and hosting a birthday party!
It was lovely to be in community with Leslie here. I felt extremely comfortable with her cheerful presence from the start. Wonderful human being!
