Hello lovely travelers!!
Seeking caretakers for 4 dogs during “high season” at Lake Atitlan Guatemala.
During high season at the lake I work more than usual, so I am seeking couples to help take my 4 dogs on great hikes every morning, and also to help with grocery shopping and sometimes cooking and other household chores.
Lodging would be in the pink casita which you see in the photos. The pink casita sleeps two individuals and is quite comfy and spacious. It has a big deck with an amazing view, a tiled floor and I have a washing machine on site as well.
My four dogs are Yovi - she's older maybe 9 or 10 years old, Matilda who is 3 years old, Chad who is 2 and Huevo who is not yet 1 year old. The dogs are well mannered and a lot of fun and love to run and play as a pack.
There are many places to take them out for hikes, and you'd need to walk them to a spot where they can run off the leash for several hours every day. There are a bunch of appropriate spots here at the lake, so you could explore these with the dogs.
We'd all have dinner together, and I provide breakfast too - lunch would be your responsibility. Work is 5 hours a day, 5 days a week though some days are longer and some shorter, but they average to 5 hours x 5 days a week.
It would be like being with a new family for a period of time. I request a month long commitment because it's better for the dogs to have someone here for a month.

Hello friends. I have a property at Lake Atitlan Guatemala, with 3 buildings on it. The work available is volunteering at the dog shelter in the next town which is a 1/2 hour walk away, or a 10 min tuctuc ride away.

During high tourist season I have the pink casita available - it is a large tiled room with two single beds, or one king sized bed for a couple (the beds can be put together to make a big bed). It has a huge sunny deck with chairs and a table. The kitchen and bathroom are shared with me (one person).
I cook dinner and we eat together. I will buy you what you like to have for breakfast and workawayers make their own breakfast.
In low tourist season I also have a fully equipped red casita with its own kitchen and bathroom. The meal arrangements are the same as described above.

There is a LOT to do in the area. From restaurants, cafes, classes, shopping, to healing and personal development seminars, retreats, facilitators, hiking, swimming, enjoying the amazing view of the lake. Travel around the lake on the public boat system to explore the many towns around the lake.

I have reliable Wifi 24 hours a day, plus I use a signal booster. Guatemala has only 3G in this region. Occasionally, when there is a power outage in the town that has the tower there may be outages, but it's rare.

It was fun to have Kunika stay here. She was a great asset to the dog sanctuary, and lovingly cared for the many dogs there. We had a great time and I am glad she visited Guatemala and shared her energy with the dogs and the other volunteers at the sanctuary. I recommend Kunika to any other workaway hosts!

Ana and Artur were nice to have here! They travelled with their cat Tigre who I think my own cat fell in love with, but the love was unrequited. They diligently went to work at the local dog shelter in the next town and we enjoyed sharing dinners together and playing cards and laughing a lot. A lovely young couple for sure!!
