Hi!
I'm Mattia, I'm 26 and I'm from Bologna, Italy. I study languages at uni and work in a pizzeria as one of the waiters. I love art and nature and I would like to explore the world "realistically" among people and giving my personal contribute. I don't fear hard work and love to learn new things. I'm especially fond of agriculture and permaculture. Hope we can have a meaningful time together :)

One of my greatest skill and passions being born in an italian restaurant is definitely cooking. I also especially like vegetarian and vegan cuisine!
My English is pretty fluent and I'm generally comfortable around all kind of people being used to social environments and workplaces.
I don't fear hard work and i want to give it my all!

I am also pretty... nerdy. I like science (especially Biology), computer games, comics and books and especially animation! So hopefully we can have interesting conversations about that too!

Umsonstladen, Jörg's Free Shop, is not just a free shop, nor just a project, it's a live community and a bit of a dream.
Jörg has very strong ideals and a clearly sharp vision of his life and goals.
I stayed here for a month and the experience was extremely interesting but also extremely heartwarming.
I stayed in the same home as Jörg, we built… read more together a bike parking area, we worked on his project for a table-top game dedicated room and some other things around the house. We cooked together, we played some of the tabletop games that were surrounding all the walls of my room (displaying Jörg's incredible passion for these), and we even went to demonstrations and a small critical mass in Emmendingen.
The house is warm and comfortable, there is always lots of food recovered from waste produced by shops and while most of the stuff is for the free shop, there is always lots of bread and veggies to use.
But the beating heart is the shop and the community that revolves around it.
Umsonstladen is a wonderful project that allows everyone to find a bit of what they need, be it food or clothes (especially for babys, which is great for new parents) or backpack for kids, and, not less importantly, something they might want: a toy or a puppet for a kid, a book for a teen exploring stories, CDs or Vynils for a collector, cookware for someone passionate about cooking. There is a little bit of everything, for everyone, without any payments.
And through the shop you will meet a vibrant community of people that work there and help Jörg in everyday life, and it really feels like a hive full of busy bees, always working and trying to do their part in a bigger project. They make you feel welcomed and help you out even if they barely know you.
Everyone helps everyone a little bit, be it a smile or a whole day of installing solar panels or insulation. Be it talking in German to help you learn or sharing life stories with you. Be it a chat with some good coffee and cake or a fresh batch of wonderful banana-chocolate cupcakes.
At the end of the month I even participated and cooked with Jörg and his friends to the Küfa, an event where you can cook for around 30 people or as many as they come, and everyone can eat together, which is wonderful.
You see so many people that struggle in everyday life suddenly breathing again and with a spark in their eyes as they can solve issues that the modern world asks and asks again money for, when in reality, there is so much, too much, that gets wasted or is just stored in garages and collecting dust instead of being shared.
You see people from so many countries finding some things even to send to their relatives in their native land, especially the ones facing crisis or war.
You see so many parents and grandparents so happy to have found a nice pair of shoes or a jacket or a toy and you can just imagine a happy kid that receives that gift.
What's better than that?
I'm so grateful still.
