Hello everyone, my name is Monica Huisman (24). I recently obtained my Master's degree in Archaeology at Leiden University. Now, I'm ready to take a year off, to see the world and gain new experiences.
I like working with my hands and being outside. For example, as a teenager I worked at a strawberry picker for several years, which included not only strawberry picking, but also moaning the grass, preparing the greenhouse for the new season, etc. Moreover, at the moment, I work as a volunteer at a repair cafe where I repair broken bikes. Last year, I also participated in a drawing course and a black smith's course.
Above all, I am eager to learn, I know how to work hard and I do not mind getting my hands dirty.

In September, I took part in a Wilderness First Aid course to prepare myself for my trip. I would be interested in learning how to help people when necessary. For instance, are there any healing plants that could be used to treat someone? Where do you get antidote for venomous bites?

I DO NOT SMOKE ANYTHING (INCLUDING WEED).

I have a black belt in Taekwondo (a Korean martial, in which kicking is predominant). It would be awesome to visit a local Taekwondo club and join a training! I also do jiu jitsu in which I have a yellow belt (a Japanese martial art, in which throwing and joint locks are predominant).
I do have a drivers licence, but I have no experience in driving at the left side of the road ;-). However, I would like to drive while I am in Australia to keep up my skills.
