About Us:
Hi. We’re Oliver and Tristan, two friends from Denmark spending our gap year exploring Japan. For the first five months of our stay, we lived in an international share house in Saitama, attending Japanese language school for a month and working as English teachers for three.
Traveling has been a huge part of our journey, and along the way, we’ve fallen in love with hiking and experiencing Japan’s breathtaking nature. Recently, we've started longing for a change from city life and are excited about the idea of moving to the Japanese countryside for a while. We’re eager to learn new skills, meet new people, and share our knowledge and experiences.
Who We Are:
Oliver
I thrive on learning and personal growth, always eager to explore new ideas and perspectives. I have a strong interest in international business and politics, which I plan to study in the future. Right now, my goal is to fully immerse myself in Japan, experience its culture firsthand, and step outside my comfort zone. This journey has helped me develop independence and adaptability while deepening my appreciation for cultural diversity. I’m excited about the possibility of living in a rural area, gaining hands-on experience, and embracing a different way of life.
Tristan
I’d describe myself as hardworking, determined, and always curious to learn new things. My long-term goal is to study medicine and become a doctor, but for now, I’m dedicating my gap year to exploring Japan, learning to live on my own, and working as an English teacher in Tokyo. This experience has taught me a lot about independence, adaptability, and embracing new cultures. I'm excited about the idea of moving to the countryside, learning practical skills, and experiencing an alternative way of life.
Additional Information:
- We don’t smoke or take any form of drugs.
- We both have international driver’s licenses and have completed first-aid courses.
- While we’re new to the Workaway experience, we’re excited for the journey ahead and eager to contribute.
Thank you for considering our profile—we look forward to the adventure!Intereses

Algo más...
We met at an international boarding school in Denmark and have been good friends for over five years. In high school, Oliver focused on business and international relations, while Tristan studied math and music—spending a lot of his free time playing in a band.
Since graduating, we’ve taken a break from school to explore Japan, and it’s been an incredible experience so far. Living in an international share house has made us comfortable in diverse environments, and we’ve really enjoyed meeting people from all over the world.
After our gap year, Oliver plans to study International Business and Politics, while Tristan is heading toward medicine. But for now, we’re just excited to keep learning, meeting new people, and experiencing life in rural Japan!Más información

They are two very powerful people, so the work went faster than I expected. They even got to use a chainsaw. I enjoyed working with them. I hope they will come back to visit us again.
