Hey there!
We, Emily Fay Jones and Maya Brandenburg, are huge travel enthusiasts who love discovering new places and cultures! In March and April, we’ll be enjoying our time together in Tokyo, and from May to the end of August, we plan to explore Japan’s countryside with its beautiful nature and experiencing a completely different way of life.
Together, we’ve already traveled to the Netherlands with Maya’s family for two weeks in 2017, and last August, we took a five-day trip to Lyon, France. In general, we’ve both been lucky to visit many countries with family and friends, and we’re excited to continue our adventure here in Japan—connecting with kind and welcoming people who are willing to share their culture, and maybe even help us improve our Japanese! (We’re already learning and hope to have some simple conversations soon) :D
Both of us have younger siblings (16 and 13 years old), who we deeply love and care for. Growing up in the countryside in Germany, we were always surrounded by animals—dogs, cats, chickens, fish, and even horses for a while—and we absolutely loved every second of it!
We’d describe ourselves as creative, open-minded, hardworking, and empathetic, with a love for new adventures, experiencing the unknown, but also enjoying peaceful moments in nature.
We’d be happy to help with whatever you need—whether it’s in retail, babysitting, pet care, or anything else! We have experience in restaurants, hotels, and stores and would love the chance to exchange language and cultural knowledge as well.
We're looking forward to meet you soon!
Emily:
Hello!
I'm 19 years old, speak German and English fluently and graduated from high school last year. Right after that, I spent three months in Barcelona with a friend. I had already done an internship there during school through Erasmus, and I really wanted to go back, so I did. While I was there, I worked at "Devil's Kitchen," gaining experience in the restaurant industry—helping out in the kitchen and as a waitress /bartender.
Visiting Japan has been a huge dream of mine for a really long time, so I applied for a Working Holiday Visa and plan to stay for a year to fully experience the culture and lifestyle and also travel around with Maya.
Before that, I worked in a Hotel for two years, where I was able to gain valuable experience in the hospitality industry.
Outside of work, I have a lot of different passions! I love riding motorcycles and snowboarding—both give me an incredible sense of freedom and adventure. I'm also really into music, photography and video editing, capturing special moments and turning them into creative projects and later memories. I'm also a huge animal lover—our one-and-a-half-year-old Samoyed, Snowball, and our old mixed-tabby-cat, Chico, mean the world to me!
I also enjoy learning about psychology and human behavior which is why I plan to start a distance-learning program in communication psychology in the future, but for now, I want to focus on exploring the world, improving myself, learning new languages, meeting new people, and just generally learning as much as I can from different cultures.
I’d love to get to know your way of life and would be more than happy to lend a hand with anything you need help with!
Maya:
Hey, it's Maya here!
I'm currently working in a small shop called 'Hikeshi Spirit' in Asakusa, Tokyo, since October last year! Before I moved to Japan on August 31st in 2024 for one year, I lived in Berlin for three years. I moved there at the end of 17 after I finished my school in my hometown, a small village near Cologne. In Berlin I studied 3D-Design and graduated July 2024. I honestly can't remember a time in my life when I wasn't sketching or painting or crafting- both analog and digital.
But before I now want to step into the work industry, I want to use this time now to get as many experiences and insights in other cultures as possible. I hope to learn many more languages, I now only speak German and English fluently and French on an intermediate level, but I'm also working on my Japanese right now!
I started working in a bakery when I was 16 years old, after that I worked in a Supermarket, in Berlin I could make more experiences working in Restaurants like Domino's and Vincent Vegan, meanwhile I also started babysitting a young girl for two years (She was three years old when I started, I left when she just got five years old and we're still in contact which I am very happy about :D)
On my travels now I want to focus on creating the best version of myself- I want to learn more languages, make new art, write, photography, videography, explore the world and its beautiful nature, architecture, history.
And I sincerely hope you'd be willing to show me your world and your way of living and I'd be very happy to be able to give you a hand with everything you need help for :)
Kind Regards,

We would love to teach our native language German or English! At the same time we're eager to learn Japanese, we already started with some basics on our own but we think it would help us a lot to be able to practice with natives :)Habilidades y conocimientos que queremos compartir o aprender

Que habilidades tienes?
Our mother tongue is German, although we speak English fluently, a little bit of French and are also learning Japanese at the moment!
Both of us grew up on the countryside in Germany, near Cologne, with various pets like dogs, cats, chickens, fish and occasionally horses.
That makes us huuuge animal lovers with a lot of experiences :)
Additionally, we grew up with younger siblings, which has given us a strong sense of responsibility and a genuine love for taking care of others and since we both each grew up in a house with a garden we used to help out our parents a lot with their daily tasks, making us adaptable and hardworking.
We're very open minded, flexible, trustworthy, reliable, love nature and new adventures!Edad

In our free time, we’re passionate about photography, videography, film editing, and cinematography. Music has always been important to us—we enjoy playing instruments, singing, and dancing.
We're also very creative- painting, drawing, and coding have always played a significant role in our lives. Additionally, we love playing board games like Dungeons & Dragons and others with our friends to bring new stories to life.
We used to play Volleyball in a Team in Germany, did some swimming, kick-boxing, soccer, athletics and floorball.Más información
