  • Descripción

I am a recently laid-off chemist with 8 years of experience in the U.S. steel industry, developing environmentally friendly chemical solutions where I did my part in removing carcinogenic Cr(VI) from steel manufacturing. Earlier in my career, I worked on green technologies in the printing and graphic arts sector.

My roots trace back to a family of migrant farm workers from Northern Mexico, and I was born and had my childhood in Southern California where my parents worked in the important strawberry industry as harvesters. At age 10 I moved to South Texas, where my families roots were, on both sides of the border (Northern Mexico). Eventually I moved up to Philadelphia, PA where I’ve worked & lived for 8 years.

With a background in chemistry and classical piano training, I’ve recently taken a step back from my professional life to explore the world, connect with people, and pursue personal growth.

I am enthusiastic about science-driven volunteering, including sustainable house chemicals, pesticides, water distillers, and educational initiatives like chemistry tutoring. However, I am also looking for farm work and do not look down on manual labor due to my upbringings. As a classically trained pianist and electronic music producer/DJ, I also hope to explore world music during my travels, blending inspiration from different cultures into my work. I bring an open mind, a strong work ethic, and respect for hosts, backed by experience as both a couch-surfing host and guest. I’m eager to form meaningful, mutually beneficial connections while sharing skills and learning from others.

I am open to travel immediately, as needed, from March 2025 to September 2025.
