Description
Welcome to our dream life in the heart of Sweden!
Hi!
We’re Janne and Paulina – a couple in our 50s who recently left city life to settle in the peace and beauty of the countryside.
We have grown-up children who have moved out, and we’re lucky to be grandparents too!
We moved to a beautiful piece of land in Bergslagen, surrounded by forest, lakes, and wildlife.
We love the nature and animals we get to experience every day – living here is a joy and a gift.
Janne commutes to Stockholm to go to work. It gives us less time to take care of our newfound home in Bergslagen and some help around our property would be much appreciated.
Hopefully we will find not only help, but also lifelong friends.
We’re looking for friendly, practical people who want to join our daily rhythm for a while and help us with various outdoor and indoor tasks.
What we need help with:
– Easy out and indoor maintenance (mowing, weeding, firewood, harvest apples from our garden
– Simple DIY projects. We could need an extra hand at times.
– We would like to exchange cooking experiences together with you. Maybe we get to learn something from you and the other way around. We are both passionate about cooking food.
We love vegetarian/vegan food but we do cook fish and meat from time to time. .
We welcome volunteers who have experience with gardening, basic handyman skills, cleaning, or cooking!
No special skills are needed – just a helping hand, an open mind, and a willingness to be part of a simpler, nature-based life.
What you’ll enjoy with us:
– A peaceful stay in the Swedish countryside
– Canoeing on the nearby river Hedströmmen. We have both canoes and a rowing boat that you can use.
-Fishing
– Wood-fired sauna with a view of the lake and surrounding forests
– Beautiful hiking trails and nature reserves
– Healthy, mostly vegetarian meals
– Biking and exploring charming nearby villages
– Warm company (including our dog!) and time for conversation
– Space to relax, reflect, and enjoy life close to nature
- If needed, you can use one of our cars.
We ask for a few hours of help per day, with plenty of time to rest and explore.
Accommodation is simple and cozy, and we provide all meals.
We speak Swedish, English and Finnish – and we love cultural exchange!
We warmly welcome kind, curious and nature-loving people to join us for a while.
Let’s share the joy of life on the land together.

We love connecting with people from different cultures and sharing our way of life here in the Swedish countryside.
As a Workawayer with us, you become part of our everyday rhythm – sharing meals, working side by side, and having real conversations about life, nature and dreams. We enjoy cooking together, sitting by the fire, taking sauna baths, and spending time in nature. Sometimes we go for hikes, visit local flea markets, or explore the surrounding villages.
You also have the unique opportunity to explore a beautiful and lesser-known part of Sweden on your own. There are lakes, forests, hiking trails, charming towns and cultural sites nearby. Having a driver’s license is a big plus if you want to discover more of the area during your free time, as public transport is limited.
We’re happy to share knowledge about gardening, simple building and renovation, cooking healthy food (mostly vegetarian), and the unique history and nature of Bergslagen – the region we call home.
We also love learning from others. Hosting Workawayers gives us the chance to hear different languages, perspectives, and stories. It enriches our lives and helps us stay open and inspired.
We hope you leave not only with new skills and experiences, but also with a sense of connection – to the land, to our way of living, and to yourself.Projets impliquant des enfants

We welcome help with a variety of tasks, depending on the season and what’s happening around the house and garden. Some of the things we often need support with include:
– Gardening and growing food – helping us water, weed and care for vegetables, flowers and fruit bushes.
– General simple DIY – both indoors and outdoors, depending on your skills
– Cooking together – helping us prepare healthy meals and share time in the kitchen
– Cleaning and organizing – keeping our home fresh and welcoming
You don’t need to be an expert – we appreciate all kinds of practical help and enjoy working side by side.
However, we do appreciate if you enjoy physical work, are curious, and feel comfortable using your hands.
A handy, motivated spirit is always welcome here!Langues

You will be staying in a cozy, insulated sleeping area in our barn – simple but warm and comfortable. The space has electricity and is close to the main house, where you’ll have access to a bathroom, kitchen and common areas.
We eat most meals together and mainly cook healthy, mostly vegetarian food using seasonal ingredients. However, we also enjoy sharing some traditional Swedish meals during the summer – like homemade Swedish meatballs, new potatoes and berry desserts.
We’re happy to accommodate most diets if you let us know in advance, and we love cooking together and trying new things.Autres infos...
We share our home with a friendly Labradoodle, so it’s important that you feel comfortable around dogs. He loves company and is a part of daily life on the land.
From time to time, we also host small courses or gatherings at our place – often related to personal growth, nature connection or creativity. You may have the chance to observe or participate, depending on your interest and the timing.
Our lifestyle is simple, heart-centered and connected to the seasons – and we’re happy to welcome open-minded, kind people to share it with us for a while.
Activities that you can do in the local area is among others hiking, bicycling around on the countryside. We are on a lakefront property and we have a small rowing boat, canoes, stand up paddleboards that you can borrow to go out on the lake with or on the nearby river Hedströmmen. Fishing is a great way to enjoy the outdoors from our place. Next to the lake, we have our woodfired sauna that you can enjoy.Informations complémentaires
