Description
We are Clara and Lucas, a Brazilian couple with a few dogs in a little house at the rural area of Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro.
We have been living in the rural area of Rio for 8 years and we recently (3 years ) got ourselves a place.
Now already living in this new place we need a lot to do!
Reforming some areas, planting, cleaning garden, moving stuff, paint, weeding, seedling... almost everything is welcome :)
Our goal is to make this transition in a sustainable and efficient way, while building new bonds with the community and land through agricultural knowledge.
We are working to have a small food production and love to experiment with new techniques and ideas. Our current projects include the implementation of a food forest, house repair, gardening, cleaning.... basically everything to transform the place and call it home.
We also run a small business of all natural dog snacks made with locally grown ingredients. The food forest yield will be used in the treats production in the future.
In Toca dos Suricatos there is always something to do, fix, build, plant or create. We love arts and crafts, photography, video, story telling, all kinds of sustainable practices and projects. We also love food: planting, growing, processing, experimenting and creating new recipes. Our main goal is to trade knowledge, experiences and have a good time in nature.

We are passionate about our land and community. We learn something new everyday by challenging ourselves in new projects. Workawayers may choose to be involved in one or more of our ongoing projects.
There are many small and interesting local businesses, farms, crafters, brewers and more that are open for visitation.
Aide
- Gardening and food forest:
Prune, collect organic matter, compost, weeding, seedling, harvest, process and store yields.
- Animals:
*️️Constant interaction with dogs and cats.*️️ and some wild animals here and there...
- General Maintenance
Small Repairs, sanding & painting, assist with constructions, wood chopping
- Arts and Craft
Incense making, birdhouses building, macrame, photography, others.

Hébergement
At the moment we can provide room for 2 people
Cooking is part of our chores and we cook most meals ourselves. We usually shop in local markets for supplies and increment with our own produce when available. We can provide basic food for workawayers, and facilities are available for cooking.
The house is equipped with functioning kitchen and bathroom and laundry. Improving the house for workawayers is one of our ongoing projects.

We are located in Brejal where the local organic agricultural movement started in the 1970's. Petrópolis was recently named the organic capital of Rio de Janeiro. It is possible to visit many local farms and small businesses.
