I spent two wonderful months with Lucia's family, Carmen's sister. I had the best workaway experience I could have ever hoped for! Lucia and her husband Domenico treated me as a part of their family and I learned so much from them. Their two daughters Sofia and Martina are so incredibly funny, sweet and smart. I was heartbroken when leaving,
… read more knowing I wouldn't get to see them every day anymore. The few hours I'd spend with them in the evenings didn't feel like work at all. We had great conversations, watched movies together and had lots of fun. Sofia is very creative and loves photography. We still send each other pictures of our adventures! I loved chatting and having movie nights with sweet Martina and started teaching her how to play guitar. She's a natural talent! I'm sure one day I will be watching her clothing designs at all the biggest fashion shows in the world ;)
Carmen and Lucia's families are very close so I also got to spend time with Carmen's family. Carmen and her husband are so kind as well and were always there if I needed anything. Their lovely daughters Chiara and Camilla are also so much fun. Chiara is very clever and told me many interesting stories about Florence. Camilla is so funny and sweet, she's such a character.
While I stayed with Lucia, Carmen also had a workawayer. It made the whole experience even more fun getting to share it with someone else!
I'm so grateful I got to know both of these families and can't wait to visit them again. I hope to see you all in Amsterdam soon!

I had the best workaway experience with Carmen's family. It was my first workaway and I was extremely lucky to have stayed with such a welcoming and warm family.
I stayed for just 1 week in December 2018. I connected with them in the last moment to ask about staying and they were very hospitable to my request.

… read more two children, Camilla and Chiara for approximately 4-5 hours in the morning and then I had the rest of the day to myself. They were very flexible and extremely accommodating.
The two girls knew English very well and it was a real pleasure to be immersed in their world. The thing that I also noticed was how kindly the two girls use to communicate with each other.
Carmen is a very hard-working woman and mother and someone who acknowledges and appreciates the value of diversity in this world. She is very friendly and generally a very good-natured person. It was truly lovely getting to know her!

I stayed for one month to help Camilla and Chiara practice their English and had an amazing time! The family was very friendly and the girls were so much fun to be around! Hi all, I stayed with Carmen's family for 2 weeks in October-November. It was such a great experience - by far the best workaway I have done. I can highly recommend Carmen's family to anyone wanting to workaway in Florence.

… read more for a lifetime. Chiara (9) is such a lovely and beautiful girl. So smart, caring and wise for her age (and her English is spectacular). Camilla (4) is the cheeky little one and provides much entertainment. Both of them were an absolute pleasure to babysit. Their father Pasquelle and his father Gigi were also great company and cooked some tasty food!
The work generally involved helping to pick the girls up from school, practice speakingin English, play games, help with homework and just look after the girls when the parents were away or working. I always felt comfortable and not out of my depth. The hours were very flexible allowing you to travel to Florence and other places during the day. Honestly, It didn't ever feel like work to me - I actually felt part of the family like a big sister.
Thank you so much Carmen for welcoming me into your family.
Parting ways at the end was sad but I know I will hold on to and cherish some great memories.
