  Description

  I am looking for person to help around the home, gardener, companion to stay with my 91 year old grandfather in the beach town of Port Elgin at the base of the Bruce Peninsula for his summer vacation. He is an independent person and able to care for himself. He lives in a retirement community in the city year round, but he has a 2+1 bedroom summer cottage in Port Elgin near the beach where he would like to stay for a few weeks in July. He could use someone's help with his beautiful gardens, cooking and cleaning, and helping him putter around the property. His cottage is in the historic old town just down the street from Port Elgin Main Beach and a short walk to the downtown main street with restaurants and little shops.
  
  Grey-Bruce Counties are home to beaches, caves, farms, forests, trails, quaint downtown strips with boutique shopping, more beaches and some of the best sunsets in the world.

  My grandfather would love to talk about growing up on a farm in the 1930s and 1940s in Ontario. He was a high school science teacher for decades in Toronto. He has unique stories and is interested to hear about new places as well.

  Aide

  An outgoing companion to be kind and helpful with my grandfather. Some meal related organization would be good, but if the most you can do is fetching him something from a nearby restaurant or warming up a bowl of soup for lunch... that is actually just fine. Good listening skills and some gardening enthusiasm would be perfect.

  Private bedroom with Queen bed, shared bathroom.
  
  Second upstairs bedroom. It is possible to accommodate two separate helpers at once.
  
  The cottage does not have internet, but it is possible for us to install it with enough notice. We would connect the cottage to high speed internet for the summer if the right person needed it.

  The cottage is walking distance from hiking and biking trails, the main street quaint downtown strip with restaurants and shops, and the Port Elgin main beach and harbourfront. There is a bus to Port Elgin from Toronto airport. We can pick you up from the bus stop in Port Elgin when you arrive.
  
  I live in Port Elgin with my husband and 2 kids. My parents will also be at their own cottage in town during the summer and we will all be around quite a bit to visit and take my grandfather out places. He shouldn't be alone at the cottage though, so a companion for the times we are not there is important to him being able to stay at his own place as he would like.
  
  If you would like to hang out with us sometimes, you will be very welcome. We swim a lot and my father enjoys boating. We'd be happy to include you in some activities during your stay if you would like.
