    Description

    Hello dear new friends,

I live with my daughter and my boyfriend in a big house and we've plenty of space and also a tiny private garden where we have a nice little insulated wooden annex where some of our workawayers have slept if they want to, even in November and December (there's a really good heater and it's very cozy in this little house, it looks very much like a house for children to play in, but it has electricity, lamps and you can charge your devices here, there's a double bed with really good mattresses, a table and a chair, the bed has 3 big drawers underneath). We also have 2 rooms inside the house where you can stay, it's always up to you where you feel it's best for you to stay.

We've a view over the beatiful lake here in the lovely town of Skanderborg.
The lake is good for swimming if you like that, we have a SUP board you can try on the lake if you like that instead of swimming. There are some periods where bathing in the lake is not possible though, bc of too much algea at times. There's also a place for winter bathing in the lake, a fairly new place with a sauna also, but to use the sauna you need to become a member, but you can change into a bathing suit and take a shower for free in the changing rooms.

My daughter goes to school near by. We have 1 social together-day with her dad once a week, so he's here once a week to hang out, he's really nice.
We like to be creative, making jewelry, sewing, dancing, singing, acting, making food together and to have fun.
We love to get to know new people from all over the world, so we of course like to socialize.
There's of course also much time for doing things on your own, and it's always up to you if you want to help in the morning, mid day or evening. If we should do some tasks together I'll tell you in advance when that's possible and then you can see if that matches you and your plans for the day.

I'm allergic to perfume, also from detergent, so here we wash without perfume. And when here it's best if you only use natural based odors, for instance based on real pure essential oils. We can also share our shampoo, detergent etc with you (not deodorant though 😁😅).

We have had many wonderful workawayers who's stayed with us for up to 3 months (some for 1 week, some 2 weeks and some for 1 month and one for 3 months).
We also have longer periods with no workawayers, when we just need to be ourselves, so when we accept your visit you can know we're all up for a visit.

I sometimes need help sorting things, giving things away to 2nd hand etc. And I've sometimes a sewing project that you could help me with, sewing old fashioned clothes for the after school daycare at my daughter's school (it's a charity I do for them).
So tidying up with me, sorting with me or if you feel OK with it, you can also do it without me.
The cleaning is just light cleaning (I mostly clean the bathrooms myself, sometimes you could clean the bathroom after yourself, but we ourselves clean the toilets).

If you know how to knit it would be a big plus bc we want to learn to follow a knitting recipe we've bought on Etsy (it's in English) and knit some small frogs 😍.

As you can see from the photos we sometimes rearrange the furniture to make a new setting and look at something new and also beautiful, sometimes our workawayers has helped with this, but no heavy lifting unless you're really strong and up for it.

Garden work can also be a task to do here along side helping tidying up and some light cleaning. There's always new weeds coming up from the ground 😁😅
And many of our workawayers have been doing a great job at weeding 🙏 we're so thankful for that.

Sometimes we make parties for my daughter's classmates, for them to have something to share a part from school, we've made 2 Harry Potter parties and 2 old fashioned parties and 2 new years parties in the beginning of January... We love for them to have great and fun memories to look back upon. They always dress up accordingly and we go all in on decorating the house and making a scavenger hunt and sometimes even we grown up also dress up. You can see some photos from earlier decorations in our photos, a wonderful workawayer helped me sew the dress (she's a tailor by profession) and I've been sewing since I was a kid bc my mom was a teacher in sewing and handicrafts, it's the dress of Ginny you can see on one of the photos (from the Harry Potter movie).

We always talk together about what your preferences are concerning helping around the house and in the garden. I normally send some tasks (on WhatsApp) you can choose from. It's of course possible to say yes and no to the tasks, it's preferable that there's a lot to choose from so you can choose and it's important that you're honest about what's best for you to do. 🥰 We love when it's a win win 🥰

Some workawayers like to do most things on their own, some love to do them together. When I've time I love to do the things together... I'm not much of a garden person, but I do a bit of gardening sometimes.

We always have a video call or two with workawayers before you can come and visit us, so we can find out if we're a match, and find our if we've some kinda good chemistry together. We normally talk about 30-45 min on the video call.
In the video call I'll tell you what the period you'd like to come can bring if tasks and then find out if you're up for those. Sometimes it's mostly gardening, other times it's mostly creative tasks (if there's a party coming up), other times sorting, helping me rearranging or light cleaning.

Looking forward to seeing you. 😍

    Sincerely L

    Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre

We love to talk together with our workawayers and get to know your culture and learn about you and your life. We've already learned so much about other cultures and other people's lifestyle and POV.

I always send info about free events in this area or in Aarhus, and sometimes we might go together to such an event. There's often lots of free events in Aarhus.

We've lots of friends and know a lot of people, so we can often help people with contacts for almost anything.

And we've so many creative materials for sewing, painting, drawing, making jewelry etc that we can do together in our free time. So we can teach you some of those things.

We can teach you Danish if you'd like.
And we live in a lovely calm and fun and happy atmosphere, we're very loving towards one another and people we encounter.

We've lived in Aarhus for many years, so if you'd want to go to there on sightseeing we can go with you or tell you what to experience. Now we live in Skanderborg, that's 15-17 min by train to Aarhus, and we live close to the train st., it's a 10 min walk from here.

We can show you some danish dishes, and you can show us some dishes from your home country... Normally we never ask workawayers to cook for us, but you're welcome to teach us some recipes you love, from your origins 🥰🙏🥰 So it would be lovely to learn new new meals....

I would really love to have help with the garden if you like to help with that.
And sometimes with organizing my things, giving things to 2nd hand and letting go of things.
Sewing project : sewing old fashioned clothes, curtains etc.
And the little annex in the garden, which is also used as a house for guests, it could need a new more beautiful and nicer door and we would like the annex to be painted inside in a new organic color, so if there's someone with any skills in those areas, that would be wonderful.
And sometimes I need help with art projects. ❤️ Sometimes I've workshops for kids doing jewelry and sometimes workawayers have helped me prepare for this.
Helping me tidy up in all the creative materials and in fabric etc could also be helpful at times.

  • Hébergement

    Hébergement

So you'll have your own room in the house or live in the tiny house in the garden, most of our workawayers love to stay there since it's very cozy inside and it's totally private and so good mattresses.
There's a kitchen, a bathroom and a place for washing clothes and you of course get a key for the house so you always can go inside the house, if you stay in the annex.
You can cook for yourself in one of the kitchens and we can also cook together, for dinner it's mostly us who cooks for all of us.

    Autres infos...

We live close to the train station (10 min walk, or 3 min by bike), it takes 15-17 min by train to the big city Aarhus, and 10 min by train to the lovely city Ry, or 15 min to the nice and lovely city Horsens by train.

There's much to explore in Aarhus, many museums, the sea, really nice forests, concerts, theater and festivals. Many Internationals living there as well, we even know quite a few internationals, and some of our former workawayers live in Aarhus now and we're still in contact.

We're close to the countryside here where we live.
You can borrow a bike from us if you like.
We also have a paddleboard you can borrow.
You can also bring the bike on the train to Aarhus, it cost a special ticket to be able to bring the bike on the train though, it's not that expensive to bring the bike on the train.

The city of Skanderborg also is nice, just a bit small, but there's plenty of cafés, restaurants and a cultural house and a library. There's also concerts different places here. And really beautiful forests!
