    Description

Help our activism to establish “Community Resource Centre” - A beacon of hope and empowerment in Kampala. I am a Ugandan male, a passionate, dedicated Freedom Rights Defender (FRD) and the Executive Director of a survivor-led Non-Governmental Organization committed to championing freedom as a fundamental human right. We're determined to eradicate modern slavery by challenging hazardous behaviors, practices, and traditional norms. As a Survivor-Led Organization, our endeavors are guided by a visionary leader (Me) who, having survived traditional forced marriage, stigma, and social discrimination, propels the team to leverage their distinct perspectives and experiences.
With this background, We are looking for volunteer workawayers with diverse willingness to support our initiative to establish "Community Resource Centre", a beacon of hope and empowerment in Kampala. This community hub will provide a safe space for victims, survivors, and those at risk of modern slavery to access essential resources and support. Once constructed, "Community Resource Centre” will be a centre for skill-building workshops, a community library, and an Information, Communication Technology (ICT) center and our head office. These resources will empower individuals to resist exploitation, develop vital skills, and build a future free from slavery.
    We need volunteers who can:
    1. Physically interact with victims, survivors and those at risk of modern slavery who are being trained in making Ugandan-made products - Artisan Baskets, Table Crochets, Ornamented Kitenge bags, and wooden handicrafts.
    2. Organize a crowd funding for the construction of Community Resource Centre.
    3. Organize a fundraising for the construction of Community Resource Centre.
    4. Carry and sell our Ugandan-made products (Artisan Baskets, Table Crochets, Ornamented Kitenge bags, and wooden handicrafts) to the international market and send back the money to directly support victims, survivors and those at risk of modern slavery.
    5. Identify or connect our Organization to international philanthropists.
    6. Help our organization to become a member of International coalitions, networks or umbrella organizations.
    7. Improve organization publicity through media updates, blog and newsletter writing, video pitch and social media updates to the international community.
If you can do any of the above, then it’s you we need.
Currently we have no locally paid staff. We have seven (7) volunteer staff members of which four (Phiona, Immaculate, Moris and Stephen) are full time volunteers and three (Christine, Jimmy, and Uriah) are part time volunteers.
    Their names and roles are:

    1.Phiona – Welfare Officer.
    2.Christine - Finance Officer.
    3.Immaculate - General Secretary.
    4.Stephen – Executive Director.
    5.Jimmy – Driver.
    6. Moris - Programs Director.
    7. Uriah - Advocacy Officer.
