Hello, I’m Xander!

I recently graduated with honors, and am taking a gap year to travel and immerse myself in diverse cultures and work experiences before I begin my Finance studies at Penn State next fall. I’m excited to learn new skills and explore parts of the U.S. I haven’t seen yet, as well as destinations in Europe and Northern Africa!

I’m a problem solver and a hard worker. I thrive on meeting new people and tend to get along well with all kinds of personalities. I believe that every experience, big or small, has something valuable to teach us, and I’m eager to learn as much as possible during this year.

I’m great with animals and love outdoor adventures, especially hiking in the cold and snow. Invigorated by new experiences, I recently returned from a solo hike on the Appalachian trail. Some of my favorite hobbies include cycling, snowboarding, and cooking—particularly Italian and Hispanic cuisines.

I’m a Colombian-American who grew up in North Carolina and South Florida, USA. I’m fluent in English and have basic conversational skills in Spanish, which I’m keen to improve!

My strong organizational and interpersonal skills have proved useful in various jobs I have had, from accounting to math tutoring and food service.

My physical agility and strength helps me thrive in physically demanding environments, and allows me to be comfortable working in extreme temperatures, whether it’s hot or cold. My adaptability allows me to take on a variety of tasks, and I’m always eager to learn and grow in new areas.

I am tenacious, a hard worker and don’t give up when faced with a challenge. I believe my blend of practical experience and willingness to tackle challenges makes me a valuable asset to any host.
