Hi I'm Darcy,
I spent 2024 in the Balkans volunteering and had a really great time. I came back home and now i want to head to South America for an extended period of time.
I'm from a remote part of Australia and love seeing and living in new places. After graduating with a business degree in 2018, I worked in a Government Admin role, since then I've worked at schools in Cambodia, Australia and New Zealand as a student support worker or boarding hostel staff and really enjoy it, but also enjoy anything new and different, especially in a new place. I have a minimalist and adventurous lifestyle that I'm keen to continue.

I have a business degree majoring in marketing and management from the University of Melbourne, but truthfully haven't used it much since. I've worked in primary schools, high schools, ESL schools, and a student boarding hostel in different places as well as private tutoring.

What a true joy it was hosting Darcy and his friend Katya. The two of them came to us as a surprise, after their arrangements had proven to be less than desirable. Around the same time, the workawayer we had planned had no showed. It truly felt like the stars aligned to bring us these two wonderful individuals.

I spent a great 2 weeks here. They took a friend and I on short notice (we were already in contact)
Jessie and Seada have a beautiful house, a garden with lots to do, fun animals.
The work was varied, we picked fruit, made preserves, weeded, planted, harvested, dug a canal, trimmed the yard and sealed a roof just to name a few.

It’s a nice cozy hostel with a stocked kitchen, books, board games and a homely feel. 1 big outside table brings everyone together and small nightly games and activities happen organically. I had a really really good time staying 2 months here. Atlas and Ilir are great hosts and points of contact and I consider them good friends now that I could always return too. The food is delicious and experimental nearly always made from the produce you can get locally. The river is beautiful to swim in and the hikes to the cave and river are… read more

Darcy was a volunteer in our hostel for around 3 weeks. He was very helpful with any tack it was given to him. Always ready to help and very easy to make communication with. He was very sociable with the guests and his company was very pleasant.

I had an easy going good time in my 3 and a half weeks here. It was a little different to some workaways, they asked if i could do a few hours each morning rather than 5 days of 5 hours, but it worked out to less than 25 hours a week. We are so thankful for the time Darcy spent at our school! Having a dedicated, flexible and open-minded volunteer for two months is like we already had one more staff member who we as team could rely on.
