Hi there! I connected to workaway because I am looking to get more experience and skills in working outside and different kinds of hands-on labour on land/farms/with animals/building and renovating/growing crops/and more. And I love to meet and connect to new people!
In short: I see myself as a very positive, open minded, spontaneous yet structured, social, responsible yet adventurous, curious and respectful person who loves animals, nature, sustainability, the world, playing board games, crazy dancing, and who cares very little about money or things and cares a lot about other people and leaving the world a better place.
I am at a place in life right now where I want to work more with my hands than my mind. Sick of sitting behind my laptop most of the time! (even though I am doing great and impactful work as a sustainability consultant).
Also I love to connect with all different kinds of people and very eager to learn! I believe with an open mind in life and towards others you can gain a lot from life and get to extraordinary places, experiences and people. I have travelled a fair bit and learned never to judge and always actively listen to someone else if you want to learn their story.
I grew up on the countryside in the Netherlands, however I am not that skilled with tools or hard labour (I had 4 younger brothers growing up and quite a traditional upbringing so didn't need to). But I am in general a handy person and creative with coming up with solutions to a problems and I am not shy of hard work and very eager to learn new skills :) I do have some experience with farm animals (we had dogs cats rabbits chickens and I frequently visited our neighbours to cuddle with the cows).
I volunteered for a while at the animal ambulance in Amsterdam and I miss working hands-on with (wild) animals and helping them. It was super adventurous! Rescuing a bird stuck in a tree with the fire department is one of my best memories (I kid you not, the bird was stuck on a branch due to some rope that was littered :(( super sad)
