Description

My name is Eliška.

I'm from the Czech Republic, little country that is sometimes called the "heart of Europe".

Two years ago I got my matura diploma from a gymnasium which was at the same time a language school. During the time there I improved my English and learned Spanish from a scratch. Although the studies were hard I am thankfull for that place because it's where I discovered that I have fondness for foreign languages.

Now I study English and Spanish philology together with pedagogy at a university so I could become a language teacher.

However, during the summer I wish to use the time to travel and get new experiences which is exactly why I'm here on WorkAway.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I speak several languages.

I'm from the Czech Republic so my first language is Czech.

I understand very well Slovak since Czechia and Slovakia once used to be one country and our languages are very similar.

I have been learning English since I was little. Right now I have the level C1 according to the certificate from international Cambridge language exams.

However the language which has a special place in my heart is and always will be Spanish. I spent the last six years studying on a language school with bilingual Czech-Spanish course. Only six high schools in my country have this special programme. I had one half of my subjects in Czech and the other one in Spanish with teachers who were mostly native speakers from Spain. I ended my studies by passing the international DELE exam on level C1 and getting not one but two high school diplomas - the Czech "maturita" and Spanish "bachillerato".

Recently, I also begin to study German but for now I am a complete beginner.

Above all that I also have some experience in housekeeping. In summer 2023 I spent some time on Tenerife where I was working as a chambermaid in La Tortuga Hostel.

Even though I'm young I'm already used to travel. A few years ago my dad bought a van and he has been working on it ever since. He has transformed it into a camping car in which we travelled across many places in Europe. We did road trips around Sardinia, Corsica, north of Spain, Montenegro, Croatia and much more. I also had the opportunity to visit some of the most beautiful European cities such as Prague, Kraków, Florence, Rome, Barcelona or London.
On top of that in summer 2023 just before my twenties I experienced for the first time what it's like to travel all by myself thanks to a job on Tenerife which I obtained here on WorkAway.
