  • Description

Hey there, my name is Greta, but you can call me Marleen or Marly.

I love having people around me and am very talkative. My friends describe me as easygoing and empathetic, and I always try to have a bit of sunshine in me. I love nothing more than a spontaneous change of plans that leads to a day of laughing, seeing new places, and singing the worst guilty pleasure songs ever. When I was younger, I had a few piano, guitar, and singing lessons. I’ve been told I have a decent singing voice, though I'm not quite skilled with the guitar. I used to sing at weddings, which is so much fun and sometimes feels like bringing the bride and groom a small piece of happiness—the best feeling in the world.

After graduation, I spent nine months in New Zealand and had my first work-and-travel abroad experience. It was amazing but ended too soon due to the coronavirus. Our next stop after New Zealand would have been Australia, which is why it has been on my bucket list ever since. I am so excited to get the chance to see it for myself in the next few months and can’t believe that this dream is coming true very soon. My time in New Zealand was special, and I am forever grateful for the chance to meet so many different people and beautiful cultures.

I am 24 years old and grew up on a farm. As you might guess, I am used to having animals around and taking care of them. I would love to learn new skills and am always willing to learn more. My father taught me how to ride a tractor when I was in kindergarten, so I won’t shy away from hard work or a new challenge. If little me could learn it, I can learn it too. I have had all kinds of jobs, both outside and inside, and am always open to something new.
Currently, I am studying to become a high school teacher for languages, so I am very interested in learning new words, phrases, a bad joke, or some funny slang.

I would love to improve my Spanish skills and maybe work on an Aussie accent. But any other language or accent would be fun too. If you would like to learn some German, I would be delighted to teach you, but be aware that I might teach you northern German slang with weird words and unique pronunciation. :D

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have worked in restaurants and shops, so I am good at talking to people and comfortable around customers.

On my father's farm, I did all kinds of work, including jobs in the field, gardening, helping in the kitchen, and household chores.

I had two internships, each lasting almost two months, where I worked with students and children. One was at a school, where I had the opportunity to teach and help with homework. The other was at a summer camp, where children could spend their holidays creating art, making music, or just having fun. I spent day and night with the little ones, helping them with everything they needed.

  • Autres infos...

I used to play volleyball and a bit of beach volleyball. I would love to continue playing, but only if it happens to be an option. In the last two years, I started knitting and crocheting, which is fun. I could try to teach you a bit, but I am still a beginner too.

When it comes to hobbies and interests, I love trying new things. It became a habit for me and my friends at university to try a new kind of sport every term. We’ve already done a lot of dancing, aqua fitness, powerfitness, step aerobics, yoga... the list goes on. Therefore, I am open to every new sport or artistic hobby. Back in New Zealand, we tried surfing. I wasn't that good, but I would love to improve my skills.

I am a vegetarian, but I have no problem with people eating meat or helping to cook it. My whole family eats meat, so I am used to being the only one who doesn’t and providing alternatives for myself.
