Hi : )

My name is Luka, I am 20 years old and I come from a little clearing in the forest outside Brisbane, Australia, called Mount Glorious. Here I have grown up with my family on our off-grid, solar-powered property learning lots of skills: traditional woodwork, car mechanics, blacksmithing and native forest restoration using thinning and cool burning techniques. I am also a bicycle mechanic and work part time at a local bike shop. I am always eager to learn new skills and would be very happy to share my own.

I would consider myself a positive person who is happy to work and I am very used to a boisterous and bustling family setting; chopping wood, fixing bikes and cars and helping out in and around the household. My family have also been WWOOF/Workaway hosts for decades so I know the deal.

The farthest overseas I have been, to date, is Mulgumpin (Moreton Island) which isn't even an hour-and-a-half's ferry ride off the coast of Brisbane, so New Zealand seems (although still a bit daunting) like the obvious next step away from home.

I'm really open to anything, but while I'm in New Zealand I'd love to learn new skills and experience new cultures - farm work with animals and seeing how people live and work, meeting new and interesting people and, of course, seeing what a "real mountain" looks like are just a few of the things I'd love to do.

My Aunty, Uncle, two cousins and I will be coming out in early May to see family in the South Island but then they're all ditching me there so I can go off and do some STUFF, so would love to meet lots of lovely people and take in what I can of New Zealand!
