Hi there!
I’ve been traveling for the past four months with my brother on an incredible backpacking journey through the Americas — but soon, we’ll be parting ways, and I’ll be continuing the adventure on my own. So far, we’ve explored California, Mexico, Guatemala, and Nicaragua.
I’m Mathis, a 23-year-old backpacker from France, now traveling solo across the American continents. Open-minded, curious, and full of energy, I love discovering new cultures, sharing meaningful moments, and learning from people along the way.
What I love:
Outdoor sports play a big role in my life! I’m passionate about hiking and love exploring mountains, forests, and trails in search of new adventures. Surfing is another one of my greatest passions — being on the waves gives me a deep sense of freedom and connection to nature.
Besides sports, I’m sociable and easygoing, always happy to help out, meet new people, and try new things.
What I bring:
I’m resourceful, motivated, and hands-on. Whether it’s taking part in daily tasks, helping with physical projects, or learning something new, I’m always ready to get involved and give my best. I also love cooking — from French cuisine to pastries and dishes from around the world — and I enjoy sharing laughs and having genuine conversations about travel, nature, food, or life in general.
I recently graduated from an engineering school in France, specializing in software development, so I’m quite comfortable with computers, internet tools, and electronics. My studies also gave me a problem-solving mindset that helps me adapt quickly and learn new skills efficiently — whether technical or practical.

I am fluent in both French and English and enjoy sharing my knowledge of these languages. Whether through informal conversations, structured lessons, or helping with specific language goals, I adapt easily to others’ needs and enjoy teaching. In addition, I have a good level of Spanish but am eager to improve it further. I see language exchange as a fantastic way to connect with people, deepen my understanding of cultures, and grow together.

Our skills
We are two handy and resourceful brothers, always ready to roll up our sleeves. We enjoy tinkering and have no problem getting our hands dirty, whether it’s in the garden, working on mechanical projects, or doing small repairs or construction tasks.
Although we’re not professionals, we are quick learners, motivated, and efficient in everything we do. Whether it’s assembling furniture, fixing something, planting vegetables, or maintaining outdoor spaces, we’re always eager to help!
Our philosophy:
We love learning and are curious to broaden our horizons. This Workaway adventure is an opportunity for us to discover new techniques, develop our skills, and improve in areas such as DIY, gardening, mechanics, or any other hands-on activities we haven’t explored yet.

Somos dos hermanos hábiles y creativos, siempre listos para ensuciarnos las manos. Nos gusta hacer trabajos manuales y no tenemos miedo de meternos en el jardín, trabajar en mecánica, o realizar pequeñas reparaciones o proyectos de construcción.
Aunque no somos profesionales, aprendemos rápido y trabajamos con motivación y eficacia en todo lo que hacemos. Ya sea montar un mueble, reparar algo, plantar verduras o cuidar espacios al aire libre, ¡siempre estamos dispuestos a ayudar!
