Bonjour and nice to meet you !

I'm Paul, a young Frenchman and I'm coming to Nepal mid July.

Before going to the mountains in the Nar Phu Valley, I'm looking for volunteering opportunities as I really want to connect with local life and people in general. I'm ready to give my time to help you in any way I can, and I'd love to work with you for 2 weeks! I

To tell you a little more about myself, I'm 26 years old and I'm currently working in Paris for a jewelry company in event management. In my work, I'm mainly involved in designing and supervising the production/construction of decor for events, exhibitions, temporary stores and pop-ups.

I've decided to take a 5-month break from my job to travel around Asia and discover new cultures. Aside from that, I've already had the opportunity to volunteer during my travels on several occasions. In particular, I've "workedaway" in the USA and England for self-governing communities and their organic farms. I'm also passionate about music and play the cello in an orchestra in Paris and use to give weekly cello tutoring lessons to children.

I love meeting new people on my travels, and I'm a very dynamic person who's always full of ideas!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
I have already taught to children maths, french, and so more. I am able to speak french, english. I can help in your daily tasks : gardening, cooking, child care, animal care, farming... I've already had the opportunity to volunteer during my travels on several occasions. In particular, I've "workedaway" in the USA and England for self-governing communities and their organic farms. In the US I worked in the garden, washed dishes, and swept the floors, and contributed many hours volunteering at our local food cooperative. I cooked, made fruit jams, pickles, kimchi and more. I also worked a lot on a bottle wall.
I'm also passionate about music and play the cello in an orchestra in Paris and use to give weekly cello tutoring lessons to children.

Paul and Perrine mark the first time that we invited a couple for a workaway stay. Our house is small and accommodations tight, so we had limited ourselves to one workawayer at a time, but we could not have done better than these two. They were delightful company and fantastic workers. Their visit was a landmark in another sense as well-- they… read more stayed for a full two months! Longer than any other workawayer, While a long stay can be disruptive of our life style, Paul and Perrine were easy-going, considerate, helpful, and always understanding of the need to share our space.
As for work, the two of them together are like a well-oiled machine. They learned quickly, communicated well both with us and between themselves, and took to every task with enthusiasm. Like every workawayer before them, they moved, split and stacked mountains of firewood, helped with clearing and cleaning up construction debris. They worked in the garden, washed dishes, and swept the floors, and contributed many hours volunteering at our local food cooperative. They cooked, made fruit jams, pickles, kimchi and more. Their signature accomplishment during their stay was their work on our bottle walls. This was a project Laurie had started back in the winter, collecting bottles (mostly wine bottles), cleaning and removing labels, cutting them to a uniform size and joining two bottoms with tape to make glass bricks. Paul and Perrine quickly learned all the steps in the process, and soon we had enough "bricks" to start our walls. Together we came up with designs for the spaces we wanted to fill, and with Laurie and Perrine as bricklayers and Paul and Jim as the mortar mixers (Jim did a lot of "supervising" at this point, while Paul did a lot of heavy lifting!) we took on the final stages of the work. The job required nearly 700 glass bricks, each made from two bottles, several hundred pounds of Portland cement, and nearly three thousand pounds of sand, and it was a celebration when Laurie and Perrine, working on ladders, installed the final brick.
Their stay here was not all work. They got to go hiking with Laurie both in the high peaks of the Adirondacks and in the Catskill Mountains and biking along the Erie Canal and around town. We played music together; Jim improved his French while Paul and Perrine made great progress in their English proficiency. We could go on about all the fun we had together, but suffice it to say, we will have many fond and lasting memories of our time with the Frenchies.
